Why no name for the Cessna 310?

The 150 was the Commuter, but the 152 remained unnamed, as far as I can tell. I trained primarily in a 152 and thought "SkyDuck," "SkyPigeon," or some equally slow bird might be fitting... :D

Wide Angle POE Video Cameras (and stuff)

You're right, not much out there that wide, but here's one that might work for you: https://www.amazon.com/GW-Security-Starvis-Microphone-Recording/dp/B077W19NL6 No idea of the quality or anything, just found it with a search. The other option would be to use a non-POE camera combined with a...

Saw a V-22 Osprey practicing T/L at a GA airport

They often come to airports around here, KILM and KSUT. The rotors clean off the runways nicely. :)

FAA Issues General Aviation Medical Rule

Yeah, I asked AOPA about this too, and they told me much the same thing. Although I wasn't terribly impressed with the rep's suggestion that "it really only applies if you got ramp checked and then you could just say you were wearing contacts..." :rolleyes2: I'm with you guys, common sense says...

FAA Issues General Aviation Medical Rule

I wonder what this does with regard to medical limitations. For example, currently both my driver's license and 3rd class medical say I have to wear corrective lenses. If I were to have LASIK and have that requirement removed from my driver's license, could I then fly without lenses? Or would I...

FAA temporary pilot cert- change of address

I just moved twice in the last year and updated my address with the FAA each time. They will only mail a new printed certificate if you ask them to (and pay the $2 fee for it).

Where to get spin training on the east coast?

I believe http://www.brunswickair.com will do it, located in Oak Island, NC. They aren't aerobatic but have a C152 and C172 that are certified for spins. I plan to do it with them some day.

Does my radio really sound that bad?

I had a KILM approach controller compain of my radio quality a few weeks back, so the CFII I was flying with tried the radio and they said he sounded fine. Suspecting a problem with my headset, he made the radio calls until we were back at the ramp. But once parked, I called ground for a radio...

Cost for bi-annual flight review (was BFR)

Had mine 2 days ago, he charges a flat $200 for flight review. We spent about 4 hours together, so that's in line with the $50/hr other people are quoting.

    Solidworks

Glad I opened this thread. I'm an EAA member and didn't know they provided SolidWorks. I used the student edition when I was one and loved it. Lately I've been using FreeCad which is powerful, free, and open source, but not without bugs and quirks. I'll be checking out OnShape too.

    Flying in sandals..

I wear flip flops most of the time when I'm not at work, but take them off in the cockpit and fly barefoot. My CFI did the same. You could always tell who his students were because a pair of shoes was the first thing out of the plane after parking. :D

New FBO at KILM (Wilmington, NC)

That is the problem with Air Wilmington. Since my club's planes are based there, I don't have the fees to contend with but yeah, I understand.

New FBO at KILM (Wilmington, NC)

Sadly, the AviatMall FBO has closed at ILM. :( So Air Wilmington is your only choice, though I have no complaints with them either. They've been good to me (and the flying club I belong to). :)

Who to contact about unsafe drone ops?

I'd also contact local law enforcement. In my mind, this is pretty similar to pointing lasers at aircraft in flight, and I know law enforcement gets involved in those cases.

Just passed PPL Written, 60 vs. 62 questions?

Seems like I heard the FAA can and will stick in some pilot questions, no pun intended. :) That way they can get feedback on how people answer the new questions, but they don't count against your exam. Great score, by the way! Congrats!

How much is aircraft rental at your FBO?

    C152 - $98/hr wet C172 - $122/hr wet http://www.brunswickair.com/aircraft.html Both planes are basic, but extremely well maintained.
