which plane best fits this mission?

The mission is 2 adults, baggage and a small dog going about 900 miles round trip monthly (NY to FL). The 500 miles is so we can do it with only 1 stop. 135 vs 160 knots is pretty significant for a trip that long. I have about 1,200 hours RG time mostly in a Cessna 210. The 210 is good for the...

which plane best fits this mission?

I should have said no more than 4 seats. A 2 seat would be fine. 6 seats increases insurance costs. I am not interested in homebuilts. Thanks for the thoughts so far.

    More on noise at GAI

I agree. I live 1/4 mile from the end of a runway. To me, the biggest noise polluters are power washers that rumble and squeal for hours at a time, with landscape equipment a close second. Airplanes are way less obtrusive.

Famous pilots you have met.......I'll start out...

I've met many of the pilots mentioned on this thread, and I'll add one not mentioned yet: Paul Tibbetts. Heard him give a talk, then spoke with him briefly when he autographed a copy of his book for me. In case anyone doesn't know ho he is: He flew the B-29 Superfortress Enola Gay when it...

    Real TAS in a 180hp C-172

I owned a 1979 172N with the Avcon 180 hp constant speed prop conversion for about 10 years. No speed conversions but did have Flint tip tanks that increased fuel capacity from 40 to I believe about 65 useful. This was good because I typically burned about 10 GPH and I could fly longer legs with...

    UFQ L2 ANR in-ear headset

Thanks for the reply. I guess most of the comments here are not airline specific, but most of the reviews on Amazon, Ebay and the manufacturer's web site seem like airline pilots using them in airliners. I have Bose A20s, but they don't do so well with glasses breaking the ear seal so I'm...

    UFQ L2 ANR in-ear headset

Seems like most of these comments are regarding airline cockpits. Does anyone have experience with these in a noisy environment like a single engine prop plane? Thanks.

    Eavesdropping on your airline flight-how?

Is there a way to listen to the ATC communications from the cockpit of an airline flight you are on? United used to have a channel on it's in flight audio that tapped into the cockpit radio. Live ATC only works on the ground as is often of poor quality. I am thinking about a better quality...

    Door seals on Cessna.

Using only certified door seals, I have tried both methods and much prefer it on the airframe.
