If ForeFlight could display the Jepp Charts....

I use FF right now and I love it. I would like the ability to use JEPP charts as I start to transition into the civilian world as a career than just for fun.

FAA ramp check... anybody ever had one?

Once landed at an airport in the 64 where the FAA was doing ramp checks. He came out to see the helicopter and we talked for a while. I went inside and a young pilot in there asked if we got ramp checked. I guess? Never in my Arrow though.

    Aircraft Down in AL

Appears that an airplane has crashed with a possible fatality. I do not know much, but I do think it is based out of my home airport. http://www.wsfa.com/story/35016606/mayor-plane-crash-near-dadeville-involves-possible-fatality

Anyone here owns a rockwell commander?

Buddy on the airport has one, and I like it a lot. Very comfortable and fairly quick. He uses it for family travel, and I think it fits his mission well.

    Apollo GX 60

I had that happen once on my GX-60 and it was the data card. Reload it with data and try again?

    What's the worst plane ever?

Not a specific type but a specific airframe. AH-64D tail #299 is a "Demonic Whore" as she tried to kill me on 4 separate occasions. A cracked nose gearbox causing single engine failure on short final into a FARP at 7,000 feet. A dual engine fire warning with only one engine on fire. I hope I...

    Night Requirements for Commercial Cert

I'm sure you know what you're talking about as the concept explained is correct; however, to expound you can read this: https://www.faa.gov/pilots/safety/pilotsafetybrochures/media/spatiald_visillus.pdf We learn about this stuff pretty hard in the Army, but that is the FAA version.

    Apache down in Texas

There is a picture floating around internally of the entire static mast up buried in the dirt as if rotor separation. If true, this will be the second rotor separation incident in NG units in 24 months.

    Any military aviators on here?

You're right. According to 95-1 and the -10 the D model wasn't IFR qualified and it was considered an EP. You can't hunt and you can't shoot in the clouds. All my army weather time came in instruments. lol I have a lot more knowledge now that I can teach Army folks because of my civilian flying.

    Any military aviators on here?

Disclaimer: I had NOTHING to do with that video. The E is IFR and we do a little, but I was more just joking. I learned more about IFR ops flying my Arrow all over the country. As for the iPads that was just the 101st and it was a cluster**** We can chat about that offline if you want. We are...

    Any military aviators on here?

What is "weather" time....? Haha. As for your second question, we are all caring. Some more than others. Personally, I like that there is a blast shield between us. You even get your own "runner upper dude."

    Any military aviators on here?

I'm late to the party and a lot has already been said, but I'm an active duty AH-64D/E commissioned officer and instructor pilot. Feel free to ask me anything specific.

Commercial... here we go! Help and input please

You made me look it up, but the commercial practical is still using the PTS. Only private, instrument, and sUAS has switched to the ACS.

First time buy - Archer vs Arrow?

I own an Arrow II and have about 328 hours in it in two years. I had no experience in airplanes when I bought it, but I love it and went all the way through CFII in it. I picked it up for the price range you're looking at with full IFR /G. Feel free to ask questions if you wish.

Best aircraft to use for commercial and CFI training?

I bought an Arrow II for a personal plane before I had any certificates in category. I have done every checkride through CFII (minus AMEL) in my airplane, and have about 328 hours in make/model. I would have no second thoughts about using my plane to teach someone in. That said I have literally...

which ipad app for in-flight viewing of PDF files?

I use GoodReader. I think I paid $4.99 for it, but it has search, highlight, etc... I have folders for Army Docs and FAA stuff. I don't think I use all the functions it would allow me to.
