Same thing happened on the PB a few years back. Didn't get his way (he wanted us to moderate something we didn't choose to moderate), so he took his toys and went home. Don't count on it. To his credit, when he said he was leaving and never coming back on the PB... he apparently meant it.

I was doing backups last night while you were posting this. :) I too experienced very slow performance, and at different points my browser returned some unfamiliar error messages rather than PB content. Hard to say if it was due to the backups (they've never slowed the PB down like that...

Chuck, Jesse, Thanks for taking the time to update us over on the PB on what happened. If we ever find any issues with software that could be relevant to you, we'll be sure to reciprocate. Glad POA is back up!

That's exactly how I feel Chuck.

Because for various reasons, this forum did not appeal to the majority of the Purple Board founders. To each his/her own. I must say, the reaction from some of the folks in this thread to the Purple Board is a testament to some of those reasons. That's not to say there's anything "wrong"...

If the Blue Board guys will allow a little latitude, I'll try to keep this from bashing any one or any organization. The bike jokes relate to a thread on the Red Board. It was started by a college student who sold his car to pay for flying lessons. His post was just expressing frustration that...

Well... I can't say I'm a huge fan of that thread either, but our goal is really to have a place where people can talk about what's on their minds. We don't want to censor the content. If it gets really nasty... we'll hose people down, but we're going to try very hard to give people an open...

Well... we want the site to appear on search engines if you google "aviation forum" or "100 hamburger" etc, but we don't want google to return my posts if the user googles N50909, as happens with my posts here.

Just because it doesn't make sense to you, doesn't mean it doesn't make sense. We don't want the various search engines (i.e. Google) indexing the contents of our site... which would happen if we allowed unregistered access.

That's not why we started it. Interesting reaction from some of the folks here. <shrugs> Come play if you want. If you don't, that's cool.
