    Piper Lock Out kit

Give Skytech, Inc a call. They are a Piper Dealer with a network of warehouses. If it is for sale, they will find it for you. https://www.skytechinc.com/piper-sales

    KX-99 repair.

My Narco handheld quit working and I went through the same thing. I couldn't find anyone to do repairs. I just bought an Icom replacement for about $240.

    Internet

If you are licensed as a ham, you can use APRS to send and receive short email and SMS texts via radio. WinLink has similar capabilities.

    Reiff vs EZ Heat

I am pleased with my EZ-heat. Plug it in the day before the flight and the engine will be toasty warm.

How Should Avionics be Connected for IFR Flight

Not a legal requirement but a practical requirement for solo IFR is an autopilot. Just a wing-leveler is a big improvement.

    Piper Arrow 180 Climb CHT

Generally in full climb on hot days. After climb, temperatures drop to normal.

    Piper Arrow 180 Climb CHT

I have the same issue in my Warrior with number 2 hitting 450 degrees. I level off until temp drops and then resume climb. Some pilots have reported some temp drop with new baffling from a company in Alaska. Other owners have put a spacer on shielding to number 2 cylinder (legality of this is...

    Best way to buy oil

PSC seems to be affiliated with another company very close to them that offers another pricing model; it may even be the same company. With that company you get a lower price but pay for shipping. You can cut shipping costs by having them put several cases of oil into one large box. You have...

    Spruce Creek Livability Question

Their airport is private but if you go through a realtor, you can probably get permission to fly in and take a look and maybe get a guided tour. They have their own non-published IFR approach as well.

    Kayak Yakity-yak [NA]

I bought an inflatable Advanced Element kayak. I believe that it will work fine for local park lake and class 1 and 2 floats. I haven't been out since I purchased it so I need to wait until spring for final verdict.

    Stratux ADSB question

It really depends. Earlier versions of the Stratux project used the same antenna and dongles for both frequencies.

    Marker beacon not working

Funny story: I went for a biennial flight review with a very young CFI. While landing at a remote airport, the middle marker activated and I saw the terror in his eyes. "What was that?" Apparently, he was unfamiliar with the marker beacon and thought that it was an emergency alert.

    Fixed ADS-B In

I had a Freeflight Rngr ADS-B In unit installed in my plane several years. This used a transponder antenna under the belly and interfaced with my Garmin 430w. Has always worked well but I still carry a Bad-Elf GPS that I can plug into my Ipad as a backup.

    JPI EDM 830 & GTN 650xi

JPI does an awful job with documentation for the JPI 830. If you do any updates on the firmware, the input options will not always agree with the documentation. I suggest that you contact JPI and describe the equipment you have and the firmware version. They will send you a "cheat sheet"...

My Arrow's instrument panel light don't work

The Superbright LED bulbs work very well with the Piper dimmer. Hundreds of Piper pilots have made the transition. The only difference that I noticed after the conversion is that the Piper dimmer is not as linear with the LEDs as it is with the GE53s.

My Arrow's instrument panel light don't work

Each of the bulbs have their own ground but there is a common power wire running from bulb socket to bulb socket. If all the lights are out, it is not a grounding issue. If you have multiple lights out but not all of them, follow the power down to where the first bulb is out and apply some...

    [NA] Shielded Cat VI cable

If you need a 200' run, use 200' cable and crimp both ends rather than two 100' cables. I would suggest using a decent cable tester as well. I would also consider using two directional wireless access points instead of Ethernet cable.

    Uneven wear on tires

Both wheels have to be parallel. The 2" I use is to allow for the two inches width of the T-square I was using.

    Sales Tax Question

A word of advice: File proof of payment of the sales tax in your permanent files. I bought my plane in Virginia and moved to Maryland about 6 years thereafter. Maryland asked to provide proof of payment of the sales tax else I would have to pay sales tax in Maryland. Luckily, I still had...

    Uneven wear on tires

A quick way to check your wheel alignment is to use a large T-Square and hold the T-square against the wheel and then look down the scale portion of the T-square like you aiming a firearm. It should be pointing about 2 inches in front of the opposite wheel. If not, that wheel is out of...
