    What makes a GFCI "compromised"?

We have a few electrical outlets on the exterior of our house, all fed through one GFCI. It used to trip whenever it rained. I crawled around under the house and checked for any loose or exposed wires and found nothing unusual. So I replaced the GFCI. It was fine for awhile and then tripped and...

    Is an approval an instruction?

Hypothetical scenario: Two-way radio communication has been established. Banner Tow has not been explicitly told to remain clear. Does the statement that the transition is approved at or above 2000' (which is outside of the D) carry the same effect as an instruction to stay out? If anyone's...

Another commercial x country question: night

I don't think I've seen this question answered here before. One of 61.129's training requirements is "[o]ne 2-hour cross country flight in a single engine airplane in nighttime conditions that consists of a total straight-line distance of more than 100 nautical miles from the original point of...

Talk me out of a Rotorway 162F

I'm thinking about buying one of these with a couple partners. One, like me, is comm SEL. The other is comm everything and CFI everything except rotor. The plan would be for her to add rotor to her CFI certificate and then train the two of us. So this would basically be for us to get our comm...

    What year is it?

I swear it isn't 1998. How is this the most popular and often recommended training provider around? Is it really worth the hassle just to use this program? Could one of the tech heads around here please help them join the Internet age?

    Why is MedXPress so dumb?

Why do I have to reinput all of my answers to 18 and 19 every year? "Yes" answers on 18 should persist forever, and visits in 19 should persist for three years. These can only be added to, so why doesn't the form start prepopulated with what I submitted last time? Dumb.

NA Best software version for international phone on T-Mobile

I've got a Samsung Galaxy A7 (SM-A750G), and there appears to be no US carrier version of the software. Does anyone know what version of the software would be best for use on T-Mobile in the US? https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/firmware/sm-a750g/

    Lightspeeds falling off

I've got a pair of older Zulu 3s (converted from 2s) that I just can't keep on my head. I've tried the extended headpad and gently bending. But they still slip. I don't think my head is unusually small.... Any suggestions?

Does one of you write this show? Just watched the season premire and it could have come from some of the psych posts in the medical forum here.

    Drones for work

Let's say I had a remote-pilot certificate and wanted to use some of my free time making a little extra cash taking pictures of real estate and what not. Is this a practical endeavor? What do such jobs pay? And what's a reasonable setup to get started with?

Problems with uAvionix skybeacon anonymous mode

Asking for a friend, really, has anyone else had issues with the skybeacon not working in anonymous mode? He's got one on his plane, and it shows up in flight aware even when it's supposed to be anonymous. Uavonix confirmed to him that if it's not properly communicating with the transponder or...

    Alaska cruise and flying

Going on an Alaska cruise this summer with the family and was hoping to get it do some flying up there, maybe even a seaplane.... We have a few port calls that I thought might work. Has anyone arranged something like this? Got any suggestions?

Why do people say this about trim?

I've read, more times than I can count, claims similar to this: "If you trim for a speed and let go of the yoke, your plane will keep flying at that speed, regardless of your power setting." It isn't true in three airplanes I've tested. And based on how most elevator trim on light planes works...

Where are the lines on charts?

Or more specifically, where are the lines IRL that are depicted on charts? For example does Class B airspace begin at the outer edge of the line? Middle? Inside?
