UPDATE: Deleted data, uninstalled and reinstalled 5.0. Deleted and reentered pilot info. Do not reenter the CSC DUAT info, Lockheed Martin is anonymous service and requires no user profile data. If you are having issues, reinstall 5.0 (first release of 5.0 last night had an error)...

I'll try clearing the cache and data, and then restarting. I did find the way to import a flight plan (poorly marked). Now if I can get the briefing function back. I do like the quick access to the flightplan waypoint info on the map page. Hopefully the ETC updates as the flight progresses.

OK. Haven't tried that way. There is an option to update your subscription right in the app. I went to Settings / Subscriptions and it offers the option to purchase updated subscriptions.

IIRC, the My Garmin system uses a username (alphanumeric) not an email address. Confirm you are entering your My Garmin account username, not your email address.

Late in the day I was able to install the databases and get GP to run "normally" but will have to go thru the dance of the cursed to re-pair my tablet to the GDL 393D. Hopefully the firmware update does not break this connection for my 2500 mile trip home from the Keys to San Diego.
