No, this in incorrect. An AOA indicator tells you exactly how much of a margin above a stall you have, in degrees of AOA from stalling. It is a very direct way of determining how close the wing is to stalling. You should read a book called Stick and Rudder. Which brings up a question of mine...

This. You could for all purposes make a 210 into a 'new' plane that would fit your mission very well (I don't think it can do 1000nm with stock tanks though). I'm actually surprised more people haven't recommended that.

What's wrong with a 210? Can't get a new one, but at half those prices you could get a damn nice one. Faster than a 206 too.
