    How does Foreflight work?

If you have a smartphone you can set it up as a mobile hotspot and then connect (wirelessly) the iPad to the phone and get on-board weather anywhere you have a data connection on your phone. You need an external GPS receiver to use it as a moving map GPS.

    172M Panel Template

I will be making a new panel for a 172M and am going to CNC it out of aluminum. I'm wondering if anyone who has done this in the past has a template in a digital format that they wouldn't mind passing along for me to use as a starting point? Or, if anyone who has done this before has any tips...

Garmin Pilot for Android -- Tech Support, Tips, Tricks

Relatively new to Garmin Pilot, so maybe someone can help me out here. Version 2.6.4 on a Nexus 7. This just started happening after I tried to input the following route in the "File & Brief" window: KBZN HIA4.HIA KMSO GP didn't like it, so I tried putting it in the "Active FPL" window. Now...

    Chinese Wall, Montana

Nice video  I've flown along it quite a few times, it's a pretty cool spot, as is the rest of the Bob Marshall Wilderness Complex that surrounds it. The wilderness (not a national park) combined with the roadless area surrounding the wilderness totals almost 4,000 square miles, so it's a...

Uphill or downwind departure which would you choose?

Thanks, very helpful. Sparky's book on mountain flying (take it for what it's worth) says, "Generally a 1% downslope is equivalent to 10% more runway (depending on the type and condition of the surface)."

New AOA/Speed controller for GA aircraft

Sometimes I do that too, when trying to get into short places if conditions are right. It actually works pretty well, in my experience. It is just that an AOA indicator would work better than the stall horn as others have indicated. That being said, most people that operate in and out of such...

New AOA/Speed controller for GA aircraft

No, this in incorrect. An AOA indicator tells you exactly how much of a margin above a stall you have, in degrees of AOA from stalling. It is a very direct way of determining how close the wing is to stalling. You should read a book called Stick and Rudder. Which brings up a question of mine...

New here! Looking at some different planes and need some help!

This. You could for all purposes make a 210 into a 'new' plane that would fit your mission very well (I don't think it can do 1000nm with stock tanks though). I'm actually surprised more people haven't recommended that.

New here! Looking at some different planes and need some help!

What's wrong with a 210? Can't get a new one, but at half those prices you could get a damn nice one. Faster than a 206 too.
