    V-Twin Down Janesville

Read it and the docket the other day. Not sure what to say, somewhat of a mess all around. Such a shame.

    Taylorcraft down California

Judging by the comments below the video, I don't think I'd necessarily agree with that. He IS getting his clicks though.

    V-Twin Down Janesville

And the likelihood that both engines fail simultaneously... pretty slim. I'm assuming they don't share any other systems. Independent ignitions, cockpit controls.. etc. The airplane even fully fueled had to have been significantly below gross with only two occupants, neither of which appear...

    V-Twin Down Janesville

I think it could be a good lesson that it can be a lot harder than you'd think to put it down just anywhere, especially when you can see that runway complex right there. New airplane, not yours, don't want to bend it up.. Gear was to remain down. Don't know if it was "stuck" down but it's...

    V-Twin Down Janesville

"80 degrees" is from a witness and is almost certainly inaccurate. That's 10 degrees shy of straight down and the indication is that trees tore part or all of the wings off before it ended upside down in the water. I don't see that deck angle resulting in that sort of crash. (I'm not an NTSB...

Fair enough. You likely know more than I do about it, which is not much:) I was just referencing the Kitplanes article. I blame them.

    V-Twin Down Janesville

The V-twin is equipped with a 5 gallon header tank per a Kitplanes article dated 2013. Sheer speculation on my part but if there was a misfuel incident, the header tank could have masked the problem long enough for them to fire up, runup, and get airborne.

    V-Twin Down Janesville

She was a class act with a bright future, her fiancé too. It's a punch in the gut. Another immediate family member died 5 days earlier. I feel for the family.... Other pilot was a 25 year old FO flying CRJ200s for Air Wisconsin. I believe he had recently been accepted into Iowa's ANG to fly...

    V-Twin Down Janesville

I think that will depend upon what the cause of the accident is found to be. I too am watching this one closely. One onboard was a friend. I do know that the airplane had landing gear issues a few days before and some amount of circling the airport was done before they got the gear down...

    Return of the Maule M4

A bargain compared to the 300+ the local dealer is asking for a new Husky(granted I don't know the specifics for a real good comparison, but they appear to be at least comparable)... I've always loved the Maules. I almost bought one for my first airplane, but went with a boring nosedragger...

Question about the localizer for the ILS system

In some instances, circling minimums might be used when the approach isn't aligned with any particular runway but the runway complex itself, where there might not be any navaid on the airport. So, you might be shooting an approach to the airport complex rather than a particular runway. Just a...

    Instrument Rating - Safety Pilot

I had a friend who was instrument rated and I'd take him up during my training. We probably had 25 hours together and I learned a lot from him, and he paid for half the gas... bonus. Also, I rode right seat with the roles reversed with him foggled, and you're right about the overcorrecting...
