    Traffic Management Unit/TFR

It does not affect the whole country but it does affect more than the 30nm outer ring. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Combat_air_patrol Can you imagine trying to accomplish a refuel in 60nm? The CAP and tankers are right in that area an MU2 would like to cruise at - especially if you want to...

    Traffic Management Unit/TFR

When you hear stories about fighter intercepts around the TFRs, do you wonder where the fighters came from? And the tanker that keeps them topped off? You can't fly through that area easily, which is why you were rerouted, per the published notice that you didn't check.

Pref routes are in affect during the TFR: https://www.faasafety.gov/spans/noticeView.aspx?nid=7944 Hope that helps. Looking at your flight plan, it looks like you were given the correct routing.

Glad it worked out for you. Happy flying and if you're ever looking for a nice beach vacation, be sure to try KHSE in the Outer Banks.

It was an RV10 registered in Malta. Registration is ZU-IHF. That was a hard left over Columbus with a loop the loop in it ;)

    TRA email from FAA

What stops them from using a TFR is that there is no applicable CFR that covers issuing a TFR for military exercises. The TFR can be as restrictive, but my point was that entry requirements for a TFR can be pretty straight forward (in the NOTAM or waivers.faa.gov), where entry requirements into...

    TRA email from FAA

TFRs allow for tons of flights into them ("as authorized by ATC", certain landing aircraft, LE, etc). Restricted airspace is very different and requires a waiver to operate in. So TRAs are much more restrictive than TFRs.

FAA Publishes Final Part 107 rule for small UAS

55 lb aircraft going 100 mph at 400 ft in Class G airspace (which is damn near every uncontrolled field) piloted by an individual who passed "...an initial aeronautical knowledge test at an FAA-approved knowledge testing center". Sooo, no dual time, no knowledge of fixed wing operations beyond...

Where to go? 10 hrs, DA20

I don't think KHSE can be beat for that area. The SeaGull Motel is closest to the airport if you need to walk, but Island Hopper taxi is normally available. Seagull also has a sweet beach. Rent a golf cart when you get there. No fuel so you'll need to plan a stop somewhere (probably MQI which...

    VE Day Flyover 8 May

They will be departing from KHEF and staying in the Bravo, so no TFR required (and the whole SFRA thing). You could hover outside the SFRA below the B but that's about 6 miles away from 2400 feet.

Do you have any pictures of Aeroshell #3 on the right side? Like this? I noticed it's the only one with AeroShell stylized as AeroSheLL. I wonder if that's for formation siting or IDing the plane or what.

Rep. Mica wants to privatize ATC

I figured anyone clued in would know the difference so it was jest when I pointed out the Rep/Sen bit. The truth is many people in ATC are open to privatization. Controllers aren't like the government employees you imagine filing their nails or taking long breaks. It's a hard, demanding job...

Re: Sen. Mica wants to privatize ATC My favorite part of this post will be hearing everyone play political scientist but not realize Mica isn't a senator. Well damn, I guess I ruined it.
