    Transition from 172 to 150

This is the main reason I'm sticking with it...

    Transition from 172 to 150

So would this take the place of the vacuum pump? I ask because the preflight check list under the suction guage heading we were NOT in the green arc .... we were at 2.something. He said it wouldn't be higher until airborne. I never did look back over at it but I did notice the heading...

    Transition from 172 to 150

One thing that I cant figure out and the CFI just gave me a blank stare was this.....What is it?

    Transition from 172 to 150

I'm 240 and I'm guessing he is about 150-160. Had 18 gal fuel and it was 65 outside.

    Transition from 172 to 150

Follow up: I was told by the CFI pre takeoff that we would need to remain in ground effect after lift off in order to build speed. Like a short field even tho we were on 4k+. He kind of had me apprehensive before we ever crammed into the plane. Said climbing would be slow as I expected he...

    Transition from 172 to 150

Thanks. Speed isn't a concern as these flights are purely for keeping the rust knocked off and generally enjoying flight. I will definitely need to look into the W&B on the 150.....I'm 240. After my check out with the CFI tomorrow I plan to only solo or take one of my kids with me.

    Transition from 172 to 150

Recently the FBO where I usually rent from has added a older 150 to the rental fleet. I have done all of my training and renting in a 172N and 172I. What should I expect to be different in transitioning into the 150 other than the obvious size differences? I am trying to maintain flying...

How bad did I screw up?

Thank you for this. I do remember speaking with my passenger when we were putting around the county about really being able to feel the thermals as we would transition in and out of could cover as well as over lighter and darker fields.... As for the error....I did not check the sock while in...

How bad did I screw up?

I think I was confused because in the pattern, all legs and turns felt normal and seemed to be at normal ground speed. My ground speed and "floating" didn't happen until about 100 AGL. Moving forward (because I will always be checking wind from now on!) I'll look to dust, smoke or flags to...

How bad did I screw up?

11800 x 200 ft... I've driven by that field on my way to Alpena a few times (purposefully diverted to drive by) that's one of the fields I want to land on sometime.

How bad did I screw up?

Other than identifying the indicators of landing with a tailwind and that an older 172 with 40* flaps doesn't like go arounds with a tail wind. I'm not sure what else I'm missing....

How bad did I screw up?

Oh, I forgot to mention it was in a 68 C-172 with no mods.

How bad did I screw up?

It is with great embarrassment that I ask this.... I recently got current after a 5 year absence from flying and have flown about 6 hours with my instructor during and even some after my FR. Last weekend I took a buddy up flying just to get in the air. Where the screw up happens.... We...

Can a Private pilot fly a company plane with passengers?

So what I'm gathering out of all of this is: My company can pay 100% of the expenses pertaining to the flight as long as I do not carry passengers and the flight is incidental to business? If I were to carry passengers, I would be personally responsible for 100% of the cost of the flight and...

What do you use for 3D GPS viewing of past flights?

Just tried it. Thank you. Works well but I'm not sure I'll be shelling out the $45 per year for it....

What do you use for 3D GPS viewing of past flights?

 Pretty much what I'm "using" it for. And a different perspective to share with the family and friends.
