I just moved here as well in December. My whole family is from Winston and I usually go to Emerald Isle to the beach every year multiple times. I know the area, haven't flown in it much so I am just as curious as you. I will check out Wings of Carolina.

Do you really need full fuel? Maybe calculate the amount of flight time and just have that fuel on board plus reserves

Play with the numbers. The only way to find out is to plug in the numbers. If you end up being too forward or out of the envelope maybe see if you can balance it out with some ballast in the back with out going over weight.

Yeah I have completed the FOI written but I have not done the FIA. I have been told to just do it, but I find a lot more difficult then just doing it for some reason. I guess, I was spoiled with a little time flying for a Part 135 company.
