    Show off your Plane!

It's actually a GDU 376. I use it to drive the autopilot and I supplement it with Foreflight on longer flights.

LED light signals for color vision test

I can tell the colors of most cars during the day, but not at all at night.

LED light signals for color vision test

I have VERY defective color vision. I took the light gun test at KSJC back in 1989. Myself and one other candidate were presented with different colored signals. In some instances we gave different answers. We both passed. Go figure. Having said all this, my colorblindness has never affected my...

    Retire to Airport Community?

In Colorado, you might consider Erie (KEIK) or Meadow Lake (KFLY). Erie is a northwest suburb of Denver, while Meadow Lake lies between Denver and Colorado Springs. Both are very nice strips.

Is flying a tailwheel plane that different?

Flying a tailwheel plane is no different. Taxiing, takeoffs and landings are VERY different. Edit: Kenny and I posted at the same time.

    Covid experience...

Just learned today that my 88-year-old MIL tested positive two weeks ago but has been almost completely asymptomatic since. Another test today confirmed that she had it. She has asthma, a defibrillator, and is quite frail, but she didn't even know she had it (she still doesn't - my in-laws won't...

    VFR in the RV-8

It reminds me of the panel that my Mooney Acclaim Type S had. Maybe that's why I like it.

Strangest thing you've ever seen in the boonies

In the mid-1980s I was a college student in central New Jersey. The comedian David Brynner was at the time a radio pitchman for Taco Bell in Philadelphia; they played his ads often on WMMR. Fast forward about 5 years; I was about 2 years out of college and visiting a friend of mine in Las...

    KAPA, KCFO hangar needed

I was wondering where the hell CFO was so I looked it up... I didn't realize they renamed Front Range! You'll love it there. I would have based there but it was too far from my house.

    KAPA, KCFO hangar needed

You can dramatically increase your chances of getting a Port-a-Port hangar at KAPA simply by cruising the hangar rows on a weekend morning looking for "For Sale" or "For Rent" signs. That's how I got two of them in a six-month stretch while I was based there. The Port-a-Ports are on the south...

First time in the clouds and I gave up

I know it's tough in TX, but better to train during a time of the year when actual is virtually guaranteed. I got my IFR ticket in the SF Bay Area between December and February of 1993-4, the peak of the rainy season. Flew into actual almost every flight from the very first flight, and had many...

Register N-number previously involved in fatal accident?

I had a plane that had a tail number that had been in a fatal wreck years before. I flew it 12 years without incident and it never came up during resale.

NA - Training a dog not to bark

I've heard that holding a crucifix up to the dog's face can stop Transylvania Hounds from barking. Bella sure is a beautiful pup. We adopted a German Shepherd last year. He's 13 months old now. Thankfully he's not a barker. Good luck!
