    100LL cost

Ted, I'm not advocating 2 pumps. In the context I used it, the 25% that couldn't use 94UL, was based on retrofit to be able to use it, not consumption. In fact that higher consumption is actually a cost motivation to use it (retrofit for it). But this isn't a lobbyist or monopoly centric...

    100LL cost

Yes and no. That's why you have so much technological advancement during times of large wars. All of a sudden the obstacles disappear in a effort to accomplish the goal. Also once you get outside highly regulated industries, things can happen alot faster. The question being, to my point, do...

    100LL cost

According to SWIFT, that is exactly what 94UL is, which is approved for all 91/96 aircraft as well. https://www.aopa.org/news-and-media/all-news/2016/september/13/swift-fuels-94ul-put-to-the-test --“It’s 100LL without the lead,” said Jon Ziulkowski, vice president for commercial operations at...

    100LL cost

Read what I posted again more carefully. I never said anyone was not going that route, in fact quite the opposite. I said regulatory obstacles ("FAA paper") were standing in the way of large scale adoption as well as corporate welfare for proprietary boutique fuel's was the wrong direction...

    100LL cost

No, but I've not been on POA for quite some time.

    100LL cost

I'd like to hope the FAA came to their sense and stop funneling welfare to the likes of Swift Fuel and instead turned to technology, but I suspect I'd be living a pipe dream. Today, now, I can buy a $500 water injection system for my Baron and run mogas, except because of FAA paper it costs...

    Medical 'Homefill' Oxygen?

Great post bksperop and thanks for confirming most of my suspicions. I used it today on a flight and it worked great. Was just at 9000 feet but for 1.5 hours I would have been fatigued and felt great (and the plus ox confirmed it was doing it's thing). Used the M6 bottle and less then 25% used,

    Medical 'Homefill' Oxygen?

Ok did some tests with a hydro meter but want to do them again as I’m not sure this one goes below 16% Here is the baseline 27% humidity 66d in open air Then from the concentrator 16% humidity 66d at 2l min sealed in a ziplock bag Then from the bottle at 16% humidity 64d at 2l min sealed...

    Medical 'Homefill' Oxygen?

A gas supplier wouldn’t fill a homefill tank period. They don’t have standard connectors and are quite small. They are rated close to 3000 psi for burst. That said I have brought standard tanks that are 5+ years expired and they did fill them but only after a hydro test.

The tanks are stamped and certified just like any other O2 tank. I believe this occurs ever 5 years.

    Medical 'Homefill' Oxygen?

Moisture "screws up" the concentrator because Zeolite is hydroscopic, meaning it removes moisture from the air (along with absorbing Nitrogen). This occurs before the oxygen is output. The presumption, which I will try and confirm later this afternoon and post my results, is that it is...

    Medical 'Homefill' Oxygen?

I didn't read the documentation until after I had already filled a bottle. The only thing I was confused about was the O2 concentration low light being on when I first hooked it up... but by the time I did a web search it had gone off and the bottle was filling. It turns out it takes ~3 minutes...

    Medical 'Homefill' Oxygen?

Dittos on all that. My plane is NA so not often at altitudes that legally require it, but when I did have O2 in my other plane, I did use it to reduce fatigue. 10-11K is what I like to do my long cross countries at. The reason for the post was more why hadn't I seen this system mentioned...

    Medical 'Homefill' Oxygen?

I paid $220 for it used with 3 tanks. I can refill in my hangar at 2am. I don't need (or have) a built in oxygen system in my plane.

    Medical 'Homefill' Oxygen?

Did a bit of reading on the theory of operation, and while not definitive, I'm thinking the humidity is absorbed by the zeolite, which is hygroscopic, along with the Nitrogen. That is flushed on every cycle. The tanks are pressurized to 1500psi and I'm not hearing any water when I shake the...

    Medical 'Homefill' Oxygen?

FYI, this isn't aviation or medical oxygen. It is oxygen separated from the air. Whatever humidity is in the air will I presume be put in the tank, however that's worth looking into. It likely is moot since the tank is in the cabin. From what I am seeing, yes. Transfill adapters are...

    Medical 'Homefill' Oxygen?

I picked up a Invacare Home Fill oxygen system off Facebook marketplace for $220 and it included 3 cylinders with built in conservors. This system allows you to fill your own small tanks with Oxygen. The M6 tanks I got will last 6 hours. They even have transfill adapters for standard tanks...

JPI EDM-900/930 best for LOP operation?

I wouldn't go that far, not easy might be a better thought. The key on the PA32-260 is to pull the throttle just a hair back from WOT, you do need a engine analyzer to do it right, but it evens right out

    Extending annual signoff?

Their test pilot, don't care. It's is/was a project plane and I'm fully expecting additional problems to crop up. That wasn't my question.

    Extending annual signoff?

Yeap. Project plane. Thanks for recognizing that. I fully expected to be pushing the plane back into the hangar so no surprises there or anger at my mechanic. It was his test pilot. So far I've been for the most part pleasantly surprised. The fuel leaks were multiple, first some fittings that...
