13 Hours, 2 Notices of Discontinuance, 1 Temporary Airman Certificate

Wonderful write-up! The 11.3 explanation is very interesting as well. Hopefully I get some bad weather and can stay in and read it thoroughly to understand it sufficiently enough to teach. Well done and congratulations!

    Water landings

I'll agree to that. I am quite fond of the helo's as well. Haven't tried gliders but I think I would enjoy it as well.

    Water landings

You got me there. I stayed for a pretty girl, thinking she'd stay for me but that ship has sailed. I hope to be up there soon enough. Pleasantly surprised by how many seaplane and ski plane guys are floating around on these forums.

People actually fall for PTF schemes?

Frustration aside, I do know a decent amount of PTF guys that have gone to proper 121 operations. Some folks are willing to accept it. I think it comes down to a personal ethical stance. Which you and I seem to agree on James. PTF is what you do from Private through Commercial and...

    Water landings

Not nearly cold enough here. Although I am itching to go up and do some ski flying soon! Hopefully when I finish this last semester of college I will have the stones to finally pull the trigger and move on up to the last frontier.

    Info about landing slots?

I myself have done a good amount of charter into and out HTO. It can get REALLY hectic at times but doesn't seem unreasonable for a mid day rush. The airport has earned the nickname of "Vietnam" by some of the pilots due to intensity of traffic, helicopters in particular. They really should put...

People actually fall for PTF schemes?

Not that I am an expert but I have never seen anything in the reg that says they can't pay the company to fly. Clearly the company doesn't need these guys to operate but I am sure it helps their bottom line by the revenue it generates and it might even cut down on insurance a bit. Most...

    100 Hours and Still Nervous

Very normal, when you get comfortable you get complacent and you get stupid - I would know. Learn to be comfortable with being nervous - a little bit is good for you.

People actually fall for PTF schemes?

If you're fully qualified 135 SIC's then whats the harm? Their Op Spec probably requires two pilots and they're probably allowed to fly a leg every now and then. Plenty of operators do that.

    Need some graphic design work

Shot me an email with your ideas and budget at simpilot04[at]gmail.com if you're interested. My website is below. I have also done some design work for a flight club (positiverategearup.com).

People actually fall for PTF schemes?

I'm sure they give them some load about being able to log a 91 leg... I have heard stories of people flying for 135 outfits without a 135 rid and logging it as 91. Seems ridiculous but I bet it happens.

    Water landings

I operated a 208 around a few lakes up there. Beautiful places to live, fly, hike, and fish! Done a lot of hiking in the area too. I imagine the 185 is a bit more fun though.

    Landing downhill (video)

Wouldn't it be best to fly it onto that part and then brake? Much more effective way to slow down.

Petition to reinstate a good aviation professor.

Jim, All you seem to be concerned about is whose is bigger. You clearly have too much time on your hands and are looking to pick a fight. This isn't the time nor the place. I bow down to your impressive knowledge of the English language and your doctoral degree in English. Clearly you...

Petition to reinstate a good aviation professor.

Adam, The point you bring up is valid. However while I do not know the specifics of the matter as I was not there when the incident took place. I do know generally that a student thought he said something in class that was not appropriate. Over the years I have developed a relationship with...

Petition to reinstate a good aviation professor.

Man some of you folks have way too much time on your hands. I figured I would post this here because there are people who would have a feel for it and feel that it was the right thing to do. I do not know the exact specifics of the situation as I wasn't there. That being said what I do...

Petition to reinstate a good aviation professor.

One of my old professors was suspended recently from teaching for saying politically incorrect things in class. The sad thing is that he is a great professor of aviation and a very good mentor. He is considered by many (who know him) to be the best professor in the aviation department at...

Logging IFR during moonless Night VFR

I agree that it is a small percentage. But this increases on the type of flying you do. I did a trip from KEYW to KFRG which was mostly at night on a moonless night with clouds below me. The only light then were distant thunderstorms. In this case a significant portion of that trip was IMC.
