Insurance for letting someone park in your hangar?

So, if I have a hangar that’s only in use, say, 50% of the time, and I want to let others use it while I’m away, or rent the hangar to someone else for a few days/weeks, what kind of insurance coverage do I need? Obviously, for longer term tenants, it’s easy to require them to add me as...

    Hangar as an investment?

So, I own one hangar that I keep my plane in. (Functional). Around the Phoenix area (and many other areas), hangars are in high demand from what I can tell. There are just not many for sale. What do you all think of the “investment” opportunities with hangars? (strictly one you would not use...

    How to care for boots…

I recently acquired an aircraft with boots. I’ve never had an aircraft with boots before. Any advice on how to care for them?, ie, I believe there are some coatings that can be applied, but I am unsure what/how or how often. Or, is this something better left to professionals? I did...

    Jetson One - Marketing

So, the Jetson One has a ballistic parachute. This demo flight on their website appears to be the most unsafe bit of flying I've seen in a while. I cringed the whole time. I mean for god's sake, get some damn altitude! It should not be flown like this. Yeah, I'm sure its more fun this way...

    Hangar floor mats?

So, I’m about to lease a hangar from a guy who has kept it immaculate. I don’t want to be the guy who screws it up. in some hangars, I’ve seen small squares of material that are placed under the tires for … some purpose. Presumably protecting the floor? What is good to use for this purpose...

    Hangar space - in demand…

So, what’s the deal with hangar space? Everywhere I look, it’s “sold out”, and if you can find anything, it’s not cheap. Sells as soon as construction is announced. (Phoenix area). Seems like getting some land on an airport and building… would maybe not be be a bad idea. What am I missing...

    MU2 vs Turbine Single

So, browsing Meridians, and it seems that a reasonably equipped MU2 can be obtained for around $1m less. The Garrett’s are loud, but efficient. Mission does not require a twin turbine, but $1m can buy a lot of Jet A. I’m hearing that support and dispatch reliability of MU2’s is great, and...

    Gear up - insurance issues…

So….. I’m partnered with another individual on a Comanche 260B. My partner gear upped it today. (Seemingly just a “mistake”) We’re both named insured on the policy. I have nothing to do with the accident, was not on board. Will this impact my insurability/insurance rates for future aircraft...

Hangar Rash… insurance or just fix it?

So, my partner was moving our plane this weekend, and…. There was an incident with the hangar door vs the leading edge (Comanche) We are getting opinions on how to fix, but one opinion is use some “dent pulling” techniques, heat, etc to fix. another opinion was “just call the insurance company...

    Purchase Hangar with ground lease?

So, I'm considering purchasing a 40x30 hangar from a developer at Falcon Field in Mesa, AZ. Apparently, the land is "leased" from the city until 2056. I've purchased real estate before, but nothing with a "lease" component like this. What typically happens in these arrangements? Upon...

    Helicopter vs Drone...?

Hypothetical question: Suppose a helicopter cruising at 200-300 AGL over a residential area (assume uncontrolled airspace) hits a drone. Who is at fault? Would the drone operator be in serious legal trouble? At that altitude, they have every right to fly there, as does the helicopter.

Mooney baggage door impales itself on elevator...

So, ignore dramatic video comments, but... is this a typical failure mode for the baggage door on a Mooney? I’ve had my baggage door pop on a PA28 and a Comanche. Both times it stayed mostly shut and was just “annoying”...

    Is this 134.5 ?

Based on what I’ve read, I was under the impression this kind of thing was not strictly legal. I have to think they must be giving out a list of “suggested” pilots. Am I wrong?

L39 Training Flight in Santa Fe

So, last week I took a 1 hr training flight (and ground school) with Larry from Jet Warbird training center. 1 hr is about all I could afford, but it was a really cool experience. I did pretty much _all_ the flying including takeoffs and landings, aileron rolls and a loop, with Larry’s...
