My 1st time going into class C at night, any advice?

When you startup and call for taxi - be aware you MAY need to call “clearance delivery” for a sqwak code even if you’re VFR. Check the airport diagram/Foreflight.

Negative Southwest, the pattern is full

The notes on the approach plate say it cannot be flown AP coupled, so my guess is you are correct.

Negative Southwest, the pattern is full

It came from here: Take a look at the second approach in Google Earth. Once you click on the link, go to the left side data column, scroll to the bottom, and hit Export KML -> "baro+avg(EGM96 - baro)." https://globe.adsbexchange.com/?ica...m=14.7&showTrace=2024-03-23&leg=4&trackLabels It’s...

Negative Southwest, the pattern is full

Ahh! Sorry, already a thread: https://www.pilotsofamerica.com/community/threads/negative-southwest-the-pattern-is-full.146679/ I don't see a way to delete this one.

Negative Southwest, the pattern is full

I didn't see any mention of this - if there is an existing thread, I apologize. There was an SWA jet on the ILS 4 at LGA on Saturday that went missed, then came back around and almost hit the tower on it's second approach. https://onemileatatime.com/news/southwest-737-laguardia-go-around...

Insurance for letting someone park in your hangar?

If I let someone park in my hangar and it “burns down” due to some cause they try to blame on me, and destroys their million dollar aircraft…. That seems like a risk worth insuring, no? Their insurance company may subrogate?

Insurance for letting someone park in your hangar?

So, if I have a hangar that’s only in use, say, 50% of the time, and I want to let others use it while I’m away, or rent the hangar to someone else for a few days/weeks, what kind of insurance coverage do I need? Obviously, for longer term tenants, it’s easy to require them to add me as...

LLC Owners. What's this FinCEN thing about?

I’m guessing this is so poorly communicated they’ll get less than 10% compliance. I’ll be dead before they figure it out. Not concerned.

    Hangar as an investment?

Exactly. Money to pay the rent is not the issue, the issue is no supply. Note that this applies to smaller GA hangars. Our airport has some large hangars, available for lease only, at $15k per month. Word is they’re not exactly selling out. I have no idea why you’d build big hangars when the...

    Hangar as an investment?

True. I mean, the one I do own has a 35 year ground lease, so not TOO worried about that. Also, some are “private” where you also own the land. Usually at private airports.

    Hangar as an investment?

So, I own one hangar that I keep my plane in. (Functional). Around the Phoenix area (and many other areas), hangars are in high demand from what I can tell. There are just not many for sale. What do you all think of the “investment” opportunities with hangars? (strictly one you would not use...

Choosing the plane for Winter mountain trips

Nah, I have a PA46… you can be a bit larger than FAA standard person and still have no issues.

    Barrier Speed

I’m guessing that if you’re cutting it so close that this actually matters - you’re cutting it way to close.

An elephant in the room: poor diet and lifestyle can lead to medical issues

Or you can be like Warren Buffett, live on Cherry coke and steak and still be alive and working at 93. I’m not sure there is as strong a correlation of diet to longevity. Sure, being massively overweight would be a factor, but just simple diet? Not sure that “luck” doesn’t play at least as...

An elephant in the room: poor diet and lifestyle can lead to medical issues

Advising pilots to “not eat at restaurants”…. Is going to be hard advice to follow given that being a pilot and “traveling away from home” quite often go together. ;) Also, I’m trying to avoid carbs, which generally means I’m consuming more protein/meat. This advice says to “avoid red meat”…...

Choosing the plane for Winter mountain trips

Not certified, but I think the practical differences are redundancy and paperwork, not necessarily ability to actually remove ice.

Choosing the plane for Winter mountain trips

Curious - what does an airliner have that a Citation doesn’t in terms of capability that would prevent the trip in a Citation?

Choosing the plane for Winter mountain trips

If you get into this with your primary passion being aviation; and transportation being a “side benefit” when weather allows, that’s the correct attitude. If you just want reliable transportation, and are not so passionate about aviation, just charter a PC12 or something. Trust me, it will be...
