    $1600 - SKY-TEC STARTER 12V 149-NL

These were $500 14 years ago. $1291 + $200 core (the core alone is just a money grab) then add tax. They went up over $200 this week. https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/eppages/inlinelycoming_07-00762.php

    Old 1970s Ford "Cessna" Alternators?

What is everyone doing with these? Just dumping them for the latest flavor of Hartzell/Planepower ones? Can you buy legit parts for these anywhere?

    Verify, always.

Got a brand new $1100 headset the other day. The invoice, the registered headsets in my account and the OEM box had a different serial number than the actual unit in the box. It was ordered directly from the mothership through their website.

Highwings outperform even when when parked.

Its basically a bonus shop having this airplane and T hangar I think I found at least one of the problems https://imgur.com/vEwr9mO

    Ahhh really?

If you're out enjoying the bitter cold, pay attention to that ignition switch. Mine has enough drag with the bitter cold temps that it WON'T spring back by itself from the "START" position, IOW I can move it to start and it will stay there by itself. You may not catch it to till you do the...

    Growing Paynes

https://www.ainonline.com/aviation-news/business-aviation/2019-04-23/easa-emergency-ad-issued-cjs-tamarack-winglets These are pretty slick, of course execution is not without problems. seems like every new thing goes through problems, even if certified by multiple aviation authorities.

    Amazing wind!

So this happened last night, After the tornado sirens stopped and worst passed I had to check out the airport. Despite two adjacent T hangar doors wide open immediately next to my bay, nothing was damaged. Leaving the hangar doors wide open seems like a great way to reduce the structural...

    "Stuck mic on 122.80" PSA

All I could hear is child jabber. Newer com radios lock-out the keyed mic after transmitting for a timed period, older ones do not.

    Finally flying again

Everything is working great, took me a few tries to get all the red CGR-30P thermocouple connectors tight (doing that with one hand sucks). I spent a lot of time bundling and routing the harnesses forward of the firewall. I had to make brackets for ammeter shunt, manifold pressure transducer...

    Piper wing spar NPRM

Stemming from the wing separation incident... Basically, eddy current bolt hole inspection and it looks like a 1 time inspection which seems odd. https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2018/12/21/2018-27577/airworthiness-directives-piper-aircraft-inc-airplanes I'm not sure how many small...

N/A Best carpet cleaning machines (shampooers)?

This is a typical 2 bedroom apartment and not a palace. The flooring a friends apartment is disgusting. Rather than have a company do it, with the dog barking the whole time, I'd rather just do it myself. (she's permanently disabled and needs the help)

    Dynon Certified

I haven't seen anything posted recently around here and this is the latest I've read about. The most interesting thing to me is, per their Facebook page, they will be selling these STC kits over the counter and they will not be limited to dealer installation. They could change their mind at...

    Avstar Fuel Systems

Only experience is with a reman carburetor on an O-320E2D, I had a lot of questions a while back about inlet fittings while installing a fuel flow instrument and so on, they were helpful. They have a pretty nice website and have always been responsive. In short -- This carb was a "Reman" 5...

Wonder what I can see through here

Lycoming O-320-E2D with a fixed pitch prop. Pulled the plug in the end of the crankshaft and went on a treasure hunt. Conclusion: You may be able to see an amazing amount of the engine inside by going in from the front. The scope I used was long enough to reach all the to aft of the crankcase...
