In a way maybe we shouldn't blame the cfi who's been flying with Lumpy. Ordinarily, a cfi should have dumped her (politely) long before now. Lumpy apparently has insisted on going forward with the training. Also, perhaps Lumpy just loves to fly and doesn't really intend to become licensed. Just...

He asked and you told him. That's all you can do. But just one thing...if, in the opinion of an instructor or examiner, the training may be done safely it's perfectly o.k.. There's no rule otherwise.

I'm sure it has but to what end? Is a paid passenger's life more valuable than other's? We know it's not so why should any pilot have to go through an FAA physical? The 1st class physical doesn't make me feel any healthier than a visit to my family doctor where I get yearly blood work done...

Ron, I see where this question was resolved at entry #9 about DPE discretion regarding the complex airplane requirement for a renewal or reinstatement. That's the issue I was bucking about. Sorry about the confusion.

Anybody remember Strategic Air Command starring Jimmy Stewart and America's sweetheart June Allyson? As a teenager I had a crush on her. Very sweet lady. Movie had a really good story and quite a bit of history on the B-36 "Peacemaker."

IMHO, a "strong x-wind" is determined by the one encountering it. But, in technical terms we could probably refer to the maximum x-wind component figure in our poh or afm. That figure is published by the aircraft manufacturer and is based on "average" piloting skills.

I've found that cocky people can either be cocky in a non-offensive way, or in a nasty way. I avoid the nasty one's.

Hi, Brian. a "newish student" should have already been taught by his cfi, turn's to the right and left before being allowed by his instructor to fly to an airport away from his home base. Hope this helps.
