New to tent camping, need ideas for possible Sun n fun

Hilton makes a great tent, so does Hyatt. I was stationed at Eglin, back in the day. I don't sleep on the ground in Florida. Everything else is like packing for a weekend away in Florida. Sunblock, bug spray, body spray, and some clothing. The amount depends on how long you stay, how bad you are...

    What a zoo!

New York is losing people to Florida at a prodigious rate. Unfortunately, I don't think any of them are pilots.:devil:

Dealing with a crisis(?) of confidence

Fly more. You will feel better. When you get to 400 hours you will be so confident you won't even realize you are about to crash. Sorry. Stuck on the ground again today.

    Converging from opposite sides

A few years ago a guy in a Super Cub flew under my Cub and landed ahead of me.

the "not worthy of it's own thread" thread

A United Airlines flight to London recorded a ground speed of over 800 mph "These winds pushed Virgin's Boeing 787 to a ground speed of 802 mph and United's Boeing 787 to 838 mph." Business insider

the "not worthy of it's own thread" thread

Just went through the same thing in my media room. I just changed the wiring inside the light so the fan operates on the remote, and the lights are on a wall switch. Easy Peasy

    This flying seems awfully expensive...

When the "tide" comes up in North Carolina, everything is ankle deep in water from the coast to Apex. (stay away from the hog farms.)

Eight + inches of snow, here (KPOU). Too lazy to get a yardstick and get an accurate measure. I'm sure the poor folk hangers won't be dug out before Thursday.

FAA Tells Pilots To Go Analogue As GNSS ‘Spoofing’ Incidents Increase

I actually learned how to navigate with a sextant back in the mid-60s when I was in the Civil Air Patrol. We spent a bunch of time flying around in USAF cargo planes and I would bring my sextant and they would let me navigate. Had a sailboat in the late 80s, and used it then, (mostly to show...

What's YOUR Best Headwind Story ...

I posted a video of vehicles on the Mass Pike roaring past me while flying the Cub. I've landed the Cub and been blown backwards on the runway. A non-destructive ground loop rolling backwards. Exciting. Last August I took off from POU to make a 97 sm trip to NY0. 1.2 hours. At 1.2 hrs I was...

FAA Tells Pilots To Go Analogue As GNSS ‘Spoofing’ Incidents Increase

I know VORs that have been defective for years. The CARMEL (CMK) VOR near Danbury, CT (DXR) immediately comes to mind. Maybe it's time to dust off my sextant and start taking sun shots again. :cornut:

    Buying a LSA. Good idea?

I've flown a lot of LSA aircraft. These immediately come to mind. Tecnam P-92, Remos, Seamax, Searey, SportCruiser, Arion LS1, J3, PA-11, PA-12, PA-17, Taylorcraft BC12D, Aeronca 7AC, Aeronca Chief, Luscombe, Ercoupe.. These are all fine airplanes. I would buy a Tecnam. They fly well, I've done...
