    Purchasing Piper Cherokee

There’s this one, but it’s been on Craigslist for months… https://washingtondc.craigslist.org/mld/avo/d/clinton-cherokee-piper-pa/7331843162.html

Another want to buy my first airplane thread

I already contacted the airport I intend to base this airplane and confirmed that there are no non-complete clauses with the only other FBO on the field. Not that I expect to attract a lot of attention with two to three students, but this isn't a situation where I think "it's easier to ask...

Another want to buy my first airplane thread

Out of curiosity, what makes the "M" model particularly appealing?

Another want to buy my first airplane thread

I'm too new to the game to have priced anything at this point.

Another want to buy my first airplane thread

I flew the "H" model today that I mentioned above. Seems like it is well cared for considering its age. Don't know if an "M" model is in my price range.

Another want to buy my first airplane thread

Now I'm wondering about the Beechcraft Sundowner 180. I see a good deal on one with an IFR panel and low time engine, but I hear they can be difficult to land? I don't foresee a problem with me, but wondering about using one as a training aircraft...

Another want to buy my first airplane thread

Currently looking at a 1967 172H with 1,000 hours on the engine and an IFR package for $37,000. I was looking in the $65K range, but would like to stay around 40K for now. I did my training at a 141 school in Warriors and Arrows, but we live in Virginia and I like the two doors and big windows...

Another want to buy my first airplane thread

It's been a long while since I've posted here. But, I have been seriously looking at my first airplane purchase lately. My idea is to purchase a C172 that I can provide instruction in that will pay for the costs of ownership. I have worked this out in excel and one - two students would pay for...

How many passed their CFI Initial Checkride on the first try?

I busted one of my CFI rides on the first attempt, I'm pretty sure it was my initial CFI. I can't blame anyone but myself as I busted on the oral--young and unprepared (1993). I passed the CFII ride on the first try, though (and haven't flown on istruments since). EDIT: to say I took my...

    Runway incursion: Venison

I hit two deer on rollout after returning from a night XC with a student. The aircraft was a c172 and the only damage done was some blood on the aircraft and a stopped prop. An engine inspection was required, and I flew the airplane down to our maintenance shop the following day (with a waiver)...

    Banner Towing

We towed over downhill ski resorts for a season, and that was very cold. anyone familiar with Citabrias or Super Cubs can attest to that. For the most part, Michigan summers are pretty tame.

    Banner Towing

I was living in Michigan at the time, so mostly MSU games and lots of trips to Chicago. I had a few flights around Cleveland and one trip down to the INDY 500. I towed during the early to mid nineties, but I haven't flown any in the past five years since I stopped get paid for it. I'm getting...

    Banner Towing

Here's a suitable topic to pull me out of lurker status. I towed banners in the nineties. We used a Scout and a modified Bird Dog (Ector super mountaineer). Probably the most fun I've ever had flying was when I towed banners, although not very profitable.
