    One Aircraft

I'd pick a Cessna 180/185. It is a great "all-arounder." It can go anywhere, its a good instrument platform, it is reasonably fast, it can carry four, and it ranks high on my "cool" meter. I just wish Cessna would start building them again!

    Cirrus without a chute...attractive plane?

I have to agree that a low-time, late model Mooney is a very attractive choice in the high performance single market right now. Although a few years out of date (panel/avionics), low-time "J" models interest me.

    Cirrus without a chute...attractive plane?

I guess I am too "old school" to ever get behind the idea of a parachute recovery system but at the same time I do appreciate Cirrus' other advances. In particular, I like its fixed landing gear yet fast speed. Now that Mooney, Beechcraft an Commander have faded, the choices for SEL high...

    iPad vs. Nexus 7

Purchasing an aircraft which has had a gear up landing

In my opinion, a major problem with buying an airplane with a history of a gear-up landing is the increased difficulty of resale. Many buyers won't consider the airplane despite the best repair work. I once bought a 1974 C172 that had a completely new empennage installed after a another...

    Tailwheel Endorsement

I had 500 hours before I every tried flying a taildragger. I can still remember my first taildragger takeoff...as soon as I lifted the tail the plane was headed for the soybeans!:hairraise: I had to learn what the rudder pedals were used for! One of the best things to come from learning...

    iPad vs. Nexus 7

New guy here...long time pilot... I thought I'd chime in on the iPad vs. Nexus 7 since I have both.... I have a iPad 3 (wifi only 32mb) and it works wonderfully with Foreflight and a Dual xgps150a. The battery life on the iPad is very good and same with the Dual gps. I also have a...
