    CFIs Voice In Absentia

Rolling out base-to-final my first instructor would always ask, "too high, too low or just right?" I still ask myself that question.

I have been watching Martin Pauly on YouTube and..

I used to do some marshaling for a cargo airline. Waiting is as much a part of the job as anything else.....and I've had to wait and wait and wait at times, even in the FREEEEEZING cold or the pouring rain. Flashing your high beams to say you're ready is the way to go, of course at night I...

    Colorado POA BBQ

One of these days I might make it out to meet some of y'all..... Every time one of these gets scheduled other plans take priority. Plus it's hard for me to be a "people person", being the new guy it's hard for me to walk in to a place and be all like "what's up all?!"

    how does 911 call work?

The dispatcher asked for your name and number in case you were disconnected, number first so they could at least call back and your name second so they make sure they can talk to you again.... Just like they likely asked you first for the location of the inicident and then what was going on, so...

    "Interesting" concept motorcycle.

What is the point? Similiar concepts have been tried but none have gotten past the prototype phase as far as I know.

    Aggressive Drivers

My parents had both my brother and I go through a course exactly that, skid pads, threshold braking, etc. Founded by a former race car driver. Definitely saved me a few times. A couple years ago I signed my wife and I up for their winter driving class, great fun that was, a full day of...

    Goodbye Jake

“I have sometimes thought of the final cause of dogs having such short lives and I am quite satisfied it is in compassion to the human race; for if we suffer so much in losing a dog after an acquaintance of ten or twelve years, what would it be if they were to live double that time?” ― Walter...

    Solo Shirt Pic Thread

Never got my shirt cut...mostly I'm not concerned with rituals like that, I have my memories (and video of 95% of the flight) and that's enough for me

    Motorcycle Radio

One bike with no radio (VStar) and one with (Street Glide)....depends on my mood I ride two-up basically all the time. The VStar is lighter and more nimble, low center of gravity and I can throw it through the corners. The Street Glide is better balanced and doesnt feel nearly as heavy as it...

Scraping the bottom of the TROLL barrel (RANT)

Its the whole internet....compared to one of my motorcycle pages this place is pretty tame if you can believe that.

Choc Chip Cookies: Chewy, Fluffy or Thin (crispy)?

My mom's chocolate chip cookies were always flat and crunchy (often slightly burned on the bottom too)....but nothing, absolutley nothing, can top mom's cookies. Second choice, though, I'm with many others, warm and gooey.

    Some Colorado Springs aviation history

I have absolutely no idea where the Palmer Lake airport used to be, I might look into that. Before I started this, I didn't know that Manitou had an airfield either. Alexander certainly does have a fascinating story.

    Some Colorado Springs aviation history

My lady's dad and step-mom both graduated from USAFA, him in 1968 and her in 1984... she is currently a two-star general... we're looking forward to her retiring out here (probably within the next two years)

    Some Colorado Springs aviation history

It is #NationalAviationDay. In 1928, Colorado Springs hosted the first Pikes Peak Air Meet (also called an Air Circus). The program of events included relay races, balloon burst contests, stunts, daytime fireworks, skywriting, acrobatic flying, and more. The Colorado Springs based Alexander...

    Some Colorado Springs aviation history

On facebook I am a part of a group called “Old pics of Colorado Springs” and Colorado Springs has a extensive aviation history. Our municipal airport was built in the 1920’s, we are, or were, home to (among others) the Air Force Academy, Peterson AFB, the former Ent AFB and Alexander Aircraft...
