MT said it was purely cosmetic and could be dressed up with epoxy which is what I had done. I viewed a few other composite props on the field and a few of them that had over 2K hours on the prop all had a few epoxy repairs done on them.

I'd say it depends on the quality/level of the avionics you purchase. I doubt the G1000 for example will have a short lifespan as it is already 10 years old. Then again I guess it really depends on how you define short. Personally anything over 10 years to me is not short.
