Being based at an airport that doesn’t sell fuel?

Maybe it's already been mentioned (I didn't read the entire thread), but try basing at an airport with barely any maintenance. I'd take no fuel over that any day.

    Cats & Human Food [N/A]

Our two cats catch and kill small rodents. Sometimes they'll eat the entire mouse (except for the bowel); other times they only eat the head. And sometimes they eat none of it. I've wondered if their natural instincts tells them what parts of their prey they should eat in order to offset any...

Chinese Spy Balloon Flying Over the U.S.

The Chinese are copying what the Japanese did in 1945 when they launched bomb-laden balloons from Japan and bombed the US mainland. Minus the bomb, I hope.

Boeing's Truss-Braced-Wing Jet Concept Could Replace 737 Max By 2030

Seems like Cessna should be involved at some level.

    Air-to-Air 1957 Cessna 182

Great photos! I owned a 1957 182A for a few years, so I'm partial to the straight-tailed Cessnas.

I just had my left thumb joint replaced. My hitchhiking activities are cut in half while I heal.

    B17 crash at Dallas.

I've seen lots of CAF airshows at MAF and also two Planes of Fame at Chino. As I recall - and I never thought about it before now - the spacing between aircraft is wider at PoF. Maybe it's an airspace thing - does Love restrict Redbird's spacing for an airshow of that size?

    B17 crash at Dallas.

DAMN! :mad2: I've seen both of these aircraft many times at CAF airshows over the years when they were based at MAF. Also seen Texas Raiders in the hangar at Conroe lots of times. CAF has suffered a few accidents over the years with tragic loss of life and rare historic aircraft. The B-26...

Thinking About Hanging Up My Spurs

I'm the same age and of a similar mindset as the OP. For me it's not so much about the money, but the maintenance. It's no longer worth the hassle and headache.

    Bug removal minor epiphany

Scrub Daddy scrubbers, warm water, and a modicum of elbow grease works for me. Scrub Daddy's won't harm paint or composite surfaces.

    Gryoplane accident statistics

I often think about selling my airplane and going gyro. I wouldn't want to have both because I prefer my brain and muscle memory to be focused on just one type of aircraft.

Should I complain about this steak?

Sirloin? Meh! If'n you can afford to fly, you can afford prime tenderloin.

Ever have a nightmare about flying?

Yes, many times. Bad dreams usually include some combo of high-line wires everywhere I turn, busting airspace, or trying to figure out how to take off from odd places with trees, dirt roads, wires, high grass, etc. I usually wake up in a cold sweat needing to pee.

What is your daily use car

A white 2019 Honda Ridgeline - the overall best, most versatile vehicle I've ever owned. The huge trunk located in the bed of the truck is what sets it apart. My other daily driver is a souped-up 2016 Vespa GTV 300 scooter. When the weather is nice, my Ridgeline doesn't move for days sometimes...

    Friends with benefits

I'm a guy, 59-years old, married for 34 years. Even during my dating days before marriage, I learned something important about myself: Sex really isn't much fun or fulfilling unless I have some emotional attachment to my partner. My friends in college were always on the prowl for one-nighters...

    Air-to-Air Cessna 310

I think the C310 is the best-looking GA plane of them all.

    Armadillos (OT)

I tried armadillo once when I was a kid back in the early 1970s. It was cooked by my Uncle Delbert, who was a connoisseur of a wide variety of wild game. As I recall it was pretty good.

Is this about as boring as flying gets?

This plane was doing something similar over sections of West Texas last year. Day after day I could faintly hear it overhead, sometimes catching a glimpse. One day it landed locally to get fuel and take a break. It was loaded with equipment. I asked the pilot what they were doing, but he...
