Southern Living: Bug Proofing a Home

Only if they fly in the right airspace. :)

    Reel mower for taller grass.

I heard a day or so ago that Fiskers may be filing for bankruptcy. If that happens I would be suspicious of their customer service.

Southern Living: Bug Proofing a Home

Mosquitos in Alaska and Wisconsin aren't a problem, they have N numbers engraved in their sides so they can be tracked.

Boulder/Superior sue Rocky Mountain Metro Airport over "100LL"

    Webster is wrong.

Boulder/Superior sue Rocky Mountain Metro Airport over "100LL"

That is the truth! To get an electoral college would require a constitutional amendment. And the chance of that happening in a state is somewhere between 0 and non-existant.

Alec Baldwin shoots and kills cinematographer.

Point a gun at anyone on the range when I am Range Safety Officer and you are gone. Fortunately, in the years I've served as an RSO at the club I haven't had to do that. But I wouldn't hesitate. She was guilty of not checking to make sure that the ammunition was indeed blanks, and he should...

Toyota is right about EVs after all...

I'll stick with our hybrid. Decent fuel "economy", a definite improvement over the range of anything else in the driveway. Now to figure out why the dealer orders all hybrids with hitch receiver. The Ford Escape hybrid is limited to a 1500 pound trailer, and a hitch receiver is a joke.

    Colorado Pilots Call to Action

I agree. This state is rapidly turning into another California. The only reason I haven't left is that the grandkids live in western Washington. My wife likes living close to them.

Which is harder to land? Tailwheel or Glider

I've got you beat, I've got 1 landing in a glider (none in taildraggers). I agree with your point, however. BTW, my one landing in a glider was after a flight in the UK, with a UK instructor. So my logbook has 0.4 hours of dual received. :-) Proof in the picture below. BTW, the guy in back...

    Colorado Pilots Call to Action

I'm glad I left Colorado in 1983 (and California in 1995). The loonies are ruining otherwise great states.

    April solar eclipse

The eclipse was a total one. I didn't look until then. Flying without eclipse glasses was just fine. During the totality where we were was not a problem.

A letter from the Southeast United States

Then there's the bumper sticker seen in Florida - When I retire I'm going to move north and go slow in the left lane. I wouldn't limit that idiocy to Florida. I've seen it here, as well.

    April solar eclipse

We flew down from OLM to the vicinity of Salem, Oregon and watched the eclipse in 2017 from 7500 MSL. It was fantastic. I'd go along with your wife's idea.

    What's Flying Like in Retirement?

I wrote the above in 2019. I'm still active in some standards work (writing this in a meeting in Milan, Italy), but the end is in sight. 2 more years and I'm finished. And not a moment too soon, I'm over 70 now. And jbarrass is right. I'm so busy that I wonder how I found time to work...

Help Me Throw Away A Dollar

Send cash and remind them of the words on the bills. Something like "legal tender for all debts, PUBLIC or private."

    This flying seems awfully expensive...

I remember a number of years ago I had a headhunter call about a job in Wisconsin. You know, that place where mosquitoes are so big they have N numbers stenciled on them. I ultimately said "no thanks" to the job offer. This just furthers me belief that I was right.

188kts ground speed in an Arrow

Tailwinds can result in serious ground speed. I remember a number of years ago riding an airliner back from Japan to the US when if our ground speed had been airspeed, we were supersonic. 200 mph on the tail will do that! Another time we got into SFO so early that we had to sit on the plane...

    I got hired !

One thing that I don't recall seeing in this thread. Keep your expectations for quality aircraft LOW. I worked with a guy years ago who was a skydiver. I told him that I couldn't see voluntarily jumping out of a perfectly good airplane. He replied that there was no such thing as a perfectly...

Choosing the plane for Winter mountain trips

I have an IR. I have a friend who is a retired airline pilot. He and I are both not instrument current for a reason. If I had to fly across the state in IMC, I'd drive. Too much work involved in single pilot IFR. Way too much work. I admire your goal, but as you learn more you'll probably...
