I've just upgraded and now have ADS-B in/out in the aircraft. Now I'm wondering ... prior to flying an approach, do I really need to tune the radio to get weather, or can I just check my ADS-B weather? Compared to ATIS, the ADS-B is much more timely, so me thinks this might be a legal and...
Listening to PDX-approach on LiveATC. Cobra-53 is circling now, waiting on emergency vehicles to arrive. Planning a gear-up landing at HIO.

I've got an ancient GPS and need to upgrade to an IFR unit. A used 430W was the initial choice, but for ~$3k more I can put in a new 650W. I'm inclined to go with the 650, but would appreciate opinions of anyone who's tried it.
The aircraft is a Grumman Tiger.
Thanks,
Ted
