Any reason not to convert from GA plugs to LEMO?

I am upgrading my Lightspeed Zulu 2's to the 3's and in the process having my GA plugs converted to LEMO's. My plane has both GA and LEMO options, and I like the idea of not having to worry about carrying extra batteries. Any reason I shouldn't do this? Audio quality, etc.?

    Convective Outlook question

How do you guys/gals treat an area with a Convective Outlook? Do you avoid altogether? Only enter if there are nearby airports to land at if need be? Seems like most Convective Outlooks never turn into actual convective activity. Till now I have been ultra conservative and avoided altogether...

Pictures of Soldier Mountain Ski Area, Idaho

short sight seeing flight today and took these pictures. I am based about 25nm from here. This is the ski area in Idaho that went up for auction on Facebook and was posted about here on PoA. As you can see, we are having an epic winter thus far.....great for skiing not so much for flying.

    Class B altitude question?

Today while flying vfr into SLC Class B, approach assigned a route and advised me to remain at or above 6,000 ft. TPA is 5,200 ft. The route took me pretty much right into the left downwind entry to the rwy I was landing on at which point I was handed off to the tower. Still being at 6,000 ft...

What's up with cylinder #2 CHT?

While practicing some maneuvers in the practice area a few days ago, I noticed the CHT for #2 fluctuating from normal to very low temps while EGT's remained normal. The pictures were taken about 10 minutes apart. Field elevation is 4500. Prior to takeoff, I lean till engine gets rough and...

WHY IS TRANSPONDER PLACARDED NOT FOR USE IN CERTIAN AIRSPACE??

Last weekend I flew a 182 that had a placard on the transponder that said "not for use in class A, B, or C airspace"? I climbed to 10,000 feet and contacted a local radar facility and requested a transponder check, and my location and altitude was verified. Anyone have any idea why the placard...

question about timing of my annual

Barring any unforeseen circumstances, I will be purchasing a 182J in the next 2-4 weeks. The annual/pre-buy will be done the end of next week which will put the plane on a schedule to have its annual done every August. This is right in the middle of when I will be flying it most. Ideally, I...

Register plane in my name or business?

I will be purchasing a 182 in the next 2-3 months that will be used 50% personal and 50% for business for a company I own (S corporation). Would it be best to put the title/registration in the business's name OR my name since I will obviously be writing off what I can when it is being used for...

What does it mean to "calibrate" a Garmin G600

I looked at a 182 today that is equipped with G600. The owner told me it costs about $2,500 a yr to "calibrate" this system and made it sound like this "calibration" was specific to G600 and independent of the 24 month IFR cert. What was he talking about? database currency? I am new to glass...

    TRANSPONDER WITHOUT IDENT BUTTON QUESTION?

I am a 100hr pilot who received my PPL-ASEL certificate 3 months ago. Upon contacting approach while flying a rental 172 into Boise class C last week I was given a squawk code and asked to ident. Unbeknownst to me at the time, the ident button on the transponder was missing. THere was the...
