    Southern CA Pilots

Same as smltk1. The club there is very new, but compared to the high-volume 141 catering school and the other training/rental business that has been there a while, the guys are nice and the prices are right!

    Logbook - "Solo"

Is solo only a designation for student pilot, or do you continue to fill out the solo column for when are PIC with no PAX? Since my Private ASEL checkride, Oct. 27, I have added 8.2 hours in 6 flights to my logbook, with only 2.0 for XC, and also including a DA40/G1000 checkout. (Learned in...

    Super high time engine

The main plane I flew in training and have been renting since is now at approximately 3,900 SMOH. The examiner back in October almost didn't want to fly in it, but didn't make it a major issue of it only to not further extenuate circumstances for my checkride progress. I can tell you the...

    Night Landings - hepl!

Can you control the lights? Leave them on low or med...cycle them to high turning base. Gives you a chance to turn em off and turn em back on to see if that helps even more.

    Head sets

http://www.pilotsofamerica.com/forum/showpost.php?p=990782&postcount=18 Less than $200. Quieter than an ANR headset. Just as clear as a Halo or Clarity Aloft! =D

    studying for the oral.

Disagree...depending on agenda of the DPE. Some of them want some easy cash in their pocket! http://www.pilotsofamerica.com/forum/showthread.php?t=52746&page=2 OP, checkride yet?

    AKTR requires full middle name?

John, I've read some of your posts/threads. I can see why you think some of this process is ridiculous, too! Thanks for the congrats. Happy to have that stress behind me!

Studying for Checkride (oral) any advice?

Finally had my checkride on Friday. It was a completely different experience and the DPE was fantastic. Completely professional and was able to teach in a manner that was not based on ego stroking. I was actually enjoying the checkride and working with this DPE. Sure, I was more prepared...

    AKTR requires full middle name?

The FSDO adamantly stated that all forms required matching names and that a photo ID was the only way to get my AKTR corrected. I skipped the passport, instead going to the DMV to get my driver license corrected/changed. If you need to correct your name on the DL, the DMV only requires a...

    AKTR requires full middle name?

In my inexperienced, but honest opinion, this is getting f'n ridiculous. The 2nd DPE I'm working with is trying to help me, and I let him know what I posted immediately above. He talked to the FSDO. They said a passport will work in lieu of the driver license. Absolutely do not show the...

    ACCELERATED PRIVATE PROGRAM EXPERIENCE, SUGGESTIONS?

I don't have the experience compared to others on the board to say "Because I said so, that's why." However, this is highly improbable. There is 40hrs of flying required. 4 hrs a day of flying, plus prep, brief and debrief time...6 hrs a day minimum on flying. I'd say that even devoting...

    AKTR requires full middle name?

Last bullet under Knowledge Tests states the AKTR name must match the one you used to register in IACRA or the application will be returned for name mismatch. https://iacra.faa.gov/iacra/NewsEvents.aspx

    AKTR requires full middle name?

AKT proctor was back in at the flight school today. He states he uses your name as shown on your government photo ID, as mandated by the FAA. My ID only uses my middle initial. This is regardless of how the medical cert. is completed. My IACRA had my full middle name, but to Jesse's...

    AKTR requires full middle name?

This morning was my checkride attempt no. 2, with a different DPE. I didn't even get to the oral because he noticed my Airman Knowledge Test Report only has my middle initial. He believed that it needs to be the full middle name to match the medical cert. and IARCA app. I know my full name...

First Solo XC.. the good, the bad, and the ugly.

I haven't allowed myself the use of my cellphone/GPS yet. During my 2nd long xc, coming out of the east side of the Banning pass, I did have a feeling I was off course by pilotage references. I learned then that the winds were especially strong there, and previously would have had no idea of...

Brazil airline orders 60 Boeing 737 MAX airplanes

Crazy to think, considering the nacelle supply chain isn't even defined yet, much less application requirements. And the MAX is based on the nacelle! haha Soon, though.
