    Propeller option PA-24 250

Let's mandate O/H every five years and then we don't have to wonder why all these other countries never had a GA industry. I don't look to Canada for guidance on anything!

    Installing heat in hangar

I would never want to leave heat on in a hangar unattended. Fuel tanks expand and spill with heat on sometimes, potential for problems. I don't want any units with standing pilot lights on all the time either. Unit heaters should always be ceiling hung also. In addition, have seen furnaces...

    I thought I wanted a Mooney...

The reason you see tip tanks on Comanches is the early models only had 60 gallons. Later have 90 gal internal. Either can have tips for more range.

    I thought I wanted a Mooney...

The baffling thing to me is the idea that a Comanche is so unappealing to you when most knowledgeable people regard it as one of the best designs ever! You appear to be coming from a Cherokee, which is like a Timex compared to a Rolex if you wanted to really understand what is in these...

    150 knots for $150k

You must have been riding in the earliest model without toe brakes. Piper made continuous improvements to the Comanche. A 260 will get a hundred and sixty knots all day long.

Is a Piper PA-24-180 Comanche under powered?

I can do 138 to 140knots lean of peak 65% power setting 10.5 gallons per hour. It's useful on short flights if I'm in no particular hurry, with a 260

Is a Piper PA-24-180 Comanche under powered?

There's a place for all of these airplanes. Personally I have a 260, and I wouldn't be interested in the 180 but I'm telling you the people that have them like them, it works for them. But if you want the go power and the useful load, the 250 / 260 it's hard to beat. Don't worry about the...

Is a Piper PA-24-180 Comanche under powered?

It is not any more or less underpowered than any other 180 horse airplane. I believe the gross weight on a Comanche 180 is 2550 lb. That was the same as an Archer 2. The people that have them love them. Is an early Bonanza that had a 185 underpowered compared to a 285 horsepower Bonanza?

What do we think of the GNX 375?

I've never heard of anyone that owns those airplanes wanting to trade for an Arrow. Those airplanes fly circles around an Arrow!

    Plane fantasizing

I don't understand this notion that just because Beech designed the landing gear to be six or so inches taller than Piper's, pilots want to then imagine like they are flying a 707. The Comanche actually has a longer wing, a wider cabin, and is every bit as long as a Bonanza.

    More Piper Comanche questions!

I am aware of conversions to individual rear seats, not sure how involved it may be. More expertise is probably available on the Airworthy Comanche Forum. You'll have a much better load hauler with Comanche as opposed to Debonair!
