    High Altitude Flight test

I’m sure you know but beware of false pulse ox readings as well. Happens a lot when we fly patients. Sunlight, aircraft vibration, skin condition, etc.

    Multiple Recent ATC Errors...Why?

No way on a sectional. Some contract towers have very experienced controllers that used to be in the FAA. A lot of them either aged out of the FAA (56 yrs) or they are just looking for a more laid back tower gig.

    Multiple Recent ATC Errors...Why?

Well that’s the crux of what some are getting at. The change in hiring practices resulting in lower quality of students and an end result in increase in operational errors. Obviously the CTI grads and many of my veteran ATC friends see a problem in that sort of practice. Whether or not it’s...

Any rules against what you put as your flight ID?

Nope no blood given. Just a main mod chip in a Black Hawk. Fortunately it happened on climb out from Andalusia, I took the controls and landed back on the ramp. Far worse places to be stuck than eating BBQ at Andalusia. ;)

    Multiple Recent ATC Errors...Why?

Oh the FAA changed in hiring practices back in 2013. That’s a fact. https://mybinc.com/blog/faas-changes-to-traffic-controller-hiring-puts-the-safety-of-our-skies-at-risk/ And it resulted in this. https://simpleflying.com/faa-air-traffic-controller-applicants-lawsuit/

    Multiple Recent ATC Errors...Why?

I’m not buying the under staffed excuse either. ATC has almost always been understaffed since the 1981 firings. In 2008 the FAA had around 11,000 controllers with a traffic load equal to or even greater than that today. Today you have around 14,000 controllers with far better tech than was...

Any rules against what you put as your flight ID?

Yeah I believe 2010 it changed to MEDEVAC. Our company call sign can only be used with the ATC facilities in the LOA but it’s a mess these days. In Atlanta everyone is using company call signs on air to air but it’s mostly air ambulance operators anyway. Anytime I’m on CTAF at an airport I go...

Any rules against what you put as your flight ID?

We took a vote for our call signs in OEF / OIF. Had to start with the letter A since we were alpha company. Went with “Assault.” Not sure why we did that since plenty of units didn’t use the letter of their company. The 58 guys were “Unfair” and 47 guys were “Massive.” Of course DUSTOFF is that...

Any rules against what you put as your flight ID?

You have to apply to the FAA for a call sign. I use a callsign for work but can only use it were we have LOAs (CHA / TYS). LOAs have an assigned squawk as well. If I go somewhere like say BNA, I have to use “MEDEVAC.” If I’m not MEDEVAC status, then I must use N number or model / type aircraft...

It is. I’ve heard some call it the “cracked TV division.” Those were all painted over when we left the aircraft in the desert for 10th Mountain to use. They were worn out aircraft. Now that I think of it, my CE took that pic and I was on the controls.

    No delay

That’s the confusion with issuing phraseology that isn’t defined though. Some might look at “no delay” as meaning, don’t delay the start of that action while others might look at it as the speed of the action. Just use “expedite” and be done with it.

    Preview of things to come.....

They do and this guy was awarded it because he’s a pilot. Obviously the Marine Corps looks at his impact on aviation as a remote pilot, in higher regard than any other manned aircraft pilot.
