Stolen King Air still flying as of 8:38am on Sat (9-3-22)

Guy is likely going to prison for a while, but the relief his loved ones felt -- especially after the apparent "goodbye" messages -- must have been indescribable.

Stolen King Air still flying as of 8:38am on Sat (9-3-22)

Depressing that there are people in aviation who see an incident end without casualties and think "bummer". Hopefully the lack of serious injury or violence will make the calls to "do something!" less strident.

Stolen King Air still flying as of 8:38am on Sat (9-3-22)

Per video on social media it might even be a re-usable airplane.

Entirely fair, and perhaps an opportune moment to link to some of your work on canard safety: https://www.kitplanes.com/safety-is-no-accident-canards/

    Raptor Aircraft

Never flown a canard and I appreciate that "won't stall" is a great characteristic in some circumstances, but I always wonder whether if I was forced to land off-field I'd prefer to be in an airplane that stalls at say 45 knots vs one that just won't let you fly slower than say 65.

    737-500 missing out of Jakarta

Yet another terrible accident. The safety record of Indonesian commercial aviation is grim. https://aviation-safety.net/database/record.php?id=20210109-0

I don't think he has any practical choice, does he? He has had no access to the funds - which is the point of using escrow.com - and (per his explanation) if funds sit any longer neither he nor the depositors will be able to get at them. Which would be a PR disaster.

I am not a lawyer but I feel like the most probable "reward" for a corporation getting heavily involved is to be added as a named defendant in some not-too-distant lawsuit.

An impromptu formation flight with an Edgley Optica

I have no formation experience (and don't particularly want any) but this looks closer than most parallel runways, no?

An impromptu formation flight with an Edgley Optica

Been intrigued by the Optica since I first saw one decades ago in the Mark Hamill movie, Slipstream...

    US has a passport problem

$100 fee, but valid for 5 years, right? At least, I think my renewal late last year was about that. Not gonna deny that scheduling and getting to the interview can be a PITA, and probably worse right now. I do not understand why some people get interviewed even for renewals and others don't (I...

    US has a passport problem

Gotta say, I find this bizarre. Hard to understand the point of saying things that you know are wrong, and sure isn't conducive to a good-faith conversation. For what it's worth, Global Entry costs $20 a year, which isn't the exclusive domain of rich or premium cabin travelers. "Worthless...

    US has a passport problem

I'm talking about actual branches. Your views on bureaucracy in general may be completely accurate, but complaining about Senators who tell constituents that they can't order State Department employees to go back to work is just misguided.

    US has a passport problem

My GE renewal didn't late last year. The new one came with the old 5+ year old photo (which while not attractive is becoming increasingly flattering).

    US has a passport problem

State department employees aren't Senators' "staff" to "control". Senators can drag in the head of the Bureau of Consular Affairs to berate in committee, and career civil servants may not wish to make enemies of too many of them, but they can't formally make federal employees "do stuff" on a...

    Mask or no mask?

I have worn one of these while biking: https://buffusa.com/coolnet-uv It can be folded to double / triple up easily, but if worn "single ply" it absolutely meets your definition (appearing to meet the requirements while being very breathable - I won't comment on the advisability of that!). :D

    Mask or no mask?

Yep, I've kept mine on in the car when running multiple local errands, to avoid futzing with it over and over likely touching both the mask and my face multiple times in the process. It's not because I see any benefit to having it on in the car.

In bid for more female pilots, Air Force removes height requirement

Yup. The USAF has already been accepting and handling many such applicants (not just women) via the waiver process for some years and will continuing applying its anthropometric screening to identify appropriate airframes. Dropping the initial requirement is intended to eliminate the perception...
