Hey mogas user, how do you get your gas to the field?

I do the same exact thing. I put the jug on a towel, so not to scratch the paint. Crack the air valve to let it flow. Continue preflighting for a couple of minutes. Put the next one on. Continue preflighting, etc. Easy. No pumps, no cables, no trailers, no siphon pumps needed. Easy as pie. I...

Wealthy Developer Trying to Close Cloverdale Airport (O69) - Northern California

One thing that has bothered me is that CA seems to have lost the importance of having a network of airfields. Each airfield works to support the others. Thus, each time you lose one, it weakens the entire system. The survival of a single airport helps strengthen the entire system, and so it...

A Solution to the Airport Car Dilemma?

Thanks for the update. I appreciate the report and update. It sounds pretty good. Like you say, the biggest issue will just be who will hold the keys and hand them out. We dont have an FBO on the airport, so that will be an issue to figure out. Just starting the process for now. Thanks again!

A Solution to the Airport Car Dilemma?

Brad, how has your experience been. I would like to propose to the powers that be at our airport about something similar. We have two airports in our county. At one, Uber is probably the best. There are plenty of uber, lyft, etc. drivers already driving around. At the other more rural...

Visiting San Francisco; SQL - Rental Flight?

For one off, just take the CFI with you for a tour. You left seat, CFI right seat, her in the rear. You could let her fly left seat, but she wont be able to enjoy the flight as much. SCFC does this all the time. You can even do it in one of their several R22s and R44s...

    Glasair Sportsman 2+2

    Crash at Travis today

What you may not realize is that Eddie was one of the hardest working people out there. This is not someone who would retire quietly on the golf course. He was still working building foundations and roads doing hard labor instead of hitting golfballs or on a cruise ship. Just the other day, i...

    SFO alternatives??

Actually, IMHO i think SQL probably has the least amount of overcast and fog in the entire bay area due to its location and local geography. The east bay tends to get the fog first as the fog shoots eastward into Berkeley then splits north and/or south covering oakland, hayward and on south...

    San Fransisco

From SQL, it is a 1 mile walk to the caltrain station, a $5 ticket to the king station, then a $2 ticket on Muni to anywhere in the city. Hans at the pilot shop offers a limousine service. There are dedicated zipcars and Avis cars parked there a few weeks ago.

IFR training without GPS? (VOR, DME, glideslope only)

Can you point me to airports with just a VOR or LOC approach? The ones i have seen require DME and thus are VOR/DME or LOC/DME? IE, how would i determine the various decision points without GPS or DME? EG these are 2 nearby airports with ILS and thurs LOC approaches...

IFR training without GPS? (VOR, DME, glideslope only)

Could i do the IFR checkride with just a single SL-30 i wonder? No DME, ADF, or GPS. Precision approach would be ILS. 2 non-precision approaches would be what though?

Do Dogs Know that They're Dogs?

Interesting thread. Here are my observations about my dog Bart. 1. He hates the groomer and the vet. I know this because when i drive him there, he will not get out of the car. I have to really coax/command him out. Any other location, it's an easy on and off. The strange thing is i live in a...

    Close. Real Close.

Exactly. It's not the vertical separation that was the issue. It was the mere few inches of horizontal separation to the tow cable that is the issue.

    Incredible 240 mile Paraglider flight

He says he climbed to 17,000 ft. How are we supposed to avoid these guys? I imagine it is harder to see them than another airplane. Can controllers pick them up on radar?

    Ignorant Homebuyer & Airplane Noise

The solution to the original post is to NOT let those developers build those houses in the first place. Yes, the buyer is ignorant and all that but don't let it get that far. Where was the airport association, airport managers, FAA and anybody involved with aviation at that airport when the...
