OMG...they're falling out of the sky!!!!

"Pilot seats that suddenly slide backward, making airplanes nose-dive when pilots lose grip of the controls" good grief

    337 form

The "appreciably" part is interesting as well.

    337 form

Tom is right. Minor alterations do not require a 337 or an STC. A minor alteration is an alteration that is not major. Major alteration means an alteration not listed in the aircraft, aircraft engine, or propeller specifications— (1) That might appreciably affect weight, balance, structural...

Do you use a digital logbook application?

I use Logbook Pro as well. I've been instructing for a few years now and use the iPad to track almost everything. With Logbook Pro I enter my flights on the iPad, sync, then back it all up on the computer and external hard drive. My iPhone also has LBP and serves the same function as the iPad. I...

    Stupid Instructors

I'm with Ryan and LearDriver. Doesn't sound like this student has hit the books enough. Hard to say anything bad about the instructor, none of us were there. I'm not a fan of configuration changes on short final, but I do teach my students to be proficient with full, partial and no flap...

Can AP mechanics work on single engine aircrafts and Airline planes?

Thanks, been lurking in the shadows a bit learning and seeing how it all works. Nice way to stay connected...

Can AP mechanics work on single engine aircrafts and Airline planes?

Yes. I enjoy it. Helps to have a supportive wife. No plans on getting the II anytime soon, 'cause now I at least get time off when the WX doesn't cooperate... Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

Can AP mechanics work on single engine aircrafts and Airline planes?

to continue... (1) Hold a currently effective mechanic certificate with both an airframe rating and a powerplant rating, each of which is currently effective and has been in effect for a total of at least 3 years; (2) Have been actively engaged, for at least the 2-year period before the date...

Can AP mechanics work on single engine aircrafts and Airline planes?

Man, I have to say, not my experience. For both trips to the FSDO I was in and out in 10 minutes. I've since moved to a different district and the guys I've spoken with have similar stories to mine. I've taken a good portion of the FAA tests, and by far the hardest was the initial CFI-ME. 6hr...

Can AP mechanics work on single engine aircrafts and Airline planes?

The IA is a difficult knowledge test, yes. But I would say that it is relatively easy to get, as there is no practical/oral exam involved. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

Can AP mechanics work on single engine aircrafts and Airline planes?

Tom is right about the annuals. I've been an IA too long. He also eludes to an age-old discussion about what an A&P can and cannot do. Which then leads in to currency questions and arguments and so on. Anyone on the NBAA maintenance forums knows what I'm talking about. Active A&Ps do things...

Can AP mechanics work on single engine aircrafts and Airline planes?

No. Yes. Yes. By day I work on Gulfstream G550s and G450s. Evenings and weekends I do flight instruction and help owners on the field where I can. In A&P school we learned dope and fabric. Now at work I carry a laptop or my iPad out to the plane.

    Tool help

I'd recommend getting a nice general set to start, then add as you learn what you like and need. I've been using Snap-On for 15 years and started with a small general set out of A&P school. I added to It steady for about 6 years and now I've got a big box full of useful tools. A lot of what...

    ipad use and flying

I use the iPad for all of my flight instructing and other flights. FF is the best and I have the full geo-referencing subscription. It's great for busy airports with students, I can take a snapshot of our location on the ground when things get hectic, and we can debrief it later. The external...

    who does the 337?

If its a 145 repair station with appropriate capabilities, you'd hope to get the part back with an 8130 and the status block indicating repaired. If it is and A&P/IA shop using their own tickets, they should complete the 337 indicating that the major repair was done in accordance with all...

    Pre solo test??

There is no specific requirement for a logbook entry for the student pilot pre-solo knowledge test. FAR 61.87 says "At the conclusion of the test, review all incorrect answers with the student before authorizing that student to conduct a solo flight." AC 61-65 addresses this in paragraph 12...

    Reading W&B Report

#1,#3 Airplanes are weighed at the completion of the manufacuring/outfitting process. Most of the weight and balance changes once in-service result from equipment and configuration changes and the weight and balance is updated based on known weights and arms. It is quite possible that the...
