    Buying airplane? Issues?

Thanks, but I already found the same links. I was curious about people's actual experiences.

    Buying airplane? Issues?

Uh, well, sorry, but I don't have anyone else to ask. Apologies for what appears to be a stupid question.

    Buying airplane? Issues?

We've been seriously considering buying an airplane in the next year or so. I was completely unaware that you could finance a used airplane, which has been our biggest hurdle. To be honest, I'm not entirely sure what we can afford, but our friends in similar financial situations are buying...

    BFR question

Maybe you didn't read my initial post where I said the instructors in question didn't believe me when I said a CFI who recently renewed was exempt. I'm not sure how me getting violated has anything to do with my question about a CFI who tells me I'm wrong. Note he didn't say, "That's my/the...

    Just how expensive is flying?

Yes, this. Flying is as inexpensive or expensive as you want to make it. Also, I highly doubt the husband decided to quit on his own. I know tons of women who don't fly. They do stuff like this.

    BFR question

Uhh...just in case there was a miscommunication here...I am certainly not suggesting I want to do the minimum. I haven't flown in several years, am expecting to do MUCH more than an hour of flight, and could use some ground training in areas not covered by the FIRC. However, I feel that ground...

    BFR question

So I'm curious, how would you deal with an instructor who insisted otherwise? This isn't the first time I've run into this and it's rather frustrating (and had directly led to me not having a BFR in well over 24 months). Also - interesting about the change in the reg, I had no idea.

Game plan for the Commercial rating, advice?

I'm sure other people have better advice than I on the other stuff, but I did do most of my commercial in the right seat. Honestly, the actual flying was easy enough to figure out. Basically the only advantage is learning the maneuvers quicker when you start your CFI (and it helps with the...

    BFR question

Online FIRC. Still need my hour of flying. Ok, it's been a few years since I stepped into an airplane, so I more more than one hour of flying. :-) But I'm pretty confident on the knowledge stuff - or I was until I ran into this.

    BFR question

I guess I'm a little confused on the requirements. I've just run into the third CFI who insists I need an hour of ground even though I just renewed my CFI (the same month as my BFR is due). Is there some trick to 61.56(f)? Can CFI's require an hour of ground before they sign off a pilot on a...

    Purdue University Annual Fly-In Breakfast

I went there. Feel free to PM me with any questions, it's been a few years, but I love to talk about it. I did not major in flight, but I left with a commercial and CFI (MEI, actually) so I'm very familiar with the FBO's flight training and Purdue's aviation program. They do have a flight team.

    More thoughts on instructing

I guess I did miss your point, and your later comments. Obviously I was not ready to solo in the conditions that continually presented themselves. If that makes me a bad pilots, darn, guess I am. I personally was fine flying twice a week with my instructor even after I was "ready" to solo...

    <SIGH> Back to square one

If you get really desperate, the guys in Milton have impressed me. Doesn't seem like they're there to build time and sticking with one instructor for more than two flights would be good for you.

    More thoughts on instructing

Wow, seriously?* I took 27 hours to solo because I soloed in Indiana in the spring and we deal with crosswinds, particularly that time of year.* I was of course ready earlier but the winds didn’t cooperate so I’d fly with my instructor…better than skipping a chance to fly just because I couldn’t...

    CFI getting back into flying

Thanks everyone. Hopefully the weather will hold out Saturday and it'll be a good experience. And I'll definitely give it more than one flight before I expect to get the confidence back. Hopefully I won't get yelled at for having zero clue on the radio...I can't help that most of my flying...

    CFI getting back into flying

You may have a point. What I didn't mention in my original post was that I'm a military spouse and this is partly an effort to regain my identity (this may not make sense for those not in the military, but it's pretty common among spouses). Flying was my life 10 years ago. It was how I...

    CFI getting back into flying

Just finished the FIRC. It doesn't help much with the actual flying the airplane knowledge, as far as maneuvers and such - and certainly didn't help with figuring out how to deal with the the local airspace (uncontrolled field with several military airports and one Class C airport surrounding...

    CFI getting back into flying

Yeah, see, I'm not buying that, which leads me to believe there's something wrong with my skill level. Including getting me ready for an IPC and being able to actually safely fly a x-c, I'm guessing I'm at least 15 hours away. And I'm assuming all you CFI's out there are going to wonder why I...
