Crew cars only for "professional" pilots?

This is why I don't tend to use the crew car if there is an alternative because I don't want to be accused of abusing the system or being a moocher. Let the penniless professional pilots have it instead ;) Some places (in the back end of nowhere) there is no choice and you have to use the...

    Air Asia Black Box info

Well what blows me away is in both this accidents, the two pilots are doing two separate sets of actions (one pushing and the other pulling at various times). I get that the airbus is technologically advanced, and all that, but what kind of idiotic design allows the two pilots to do separate...

So, I guess I have to get a Cirrus...

And also I'm assuming by pulling the servo CB's? As there ever been a case of an ESP malfunction where it gets confused and pushes the plane into an unusual attitude? Sounds like a cool feature but I'd want to know where those servo CB's are.

So, I guess I have to get a Cirrus...

When you're as prolific a poster as Henning, you've got to occasionally make a good comment. Kind of like if you have enough monkeys banging away at enough typewriters for long enough, eventually one of them will produce the entire Shakespeare writings. :D

Single Six or Light Twin Advice

Yes, but flying higher can mean being above a lot of ugly weather including ice. There is something to be said for that, all the while not having to be on oxygen.

My wife doesn't know about Cirrus. Shhh, nobody tell her!

Crew cars only for "professional" pilots?

Is this Sugarland? Don't buy any fuel and use Uber... It will be cheaper than getting their crew car. Better yet land at a different airport...

    Air Asia Black Box info

Thanks for the link to the actual report. Something that I just cannot come to grips with, is how is it possible for this to happen TWICE, where an airbus crew stalled it all the way from the 300's down to the surface after the AP went into alternate law (which I guess means you actually get...

Also don't know much about them but always thought they're nice looking planes, especially the pressurized ones.

    The DA-40, Tim's take

I once taxied behind a DA20 on a rough taxiway and was amazed at how long those wings are, and how they were bouncing and flexing during that bumpy taxiing

    Approach successes vs alternates

The only times I've had to go missed was to a non-precision approach and my alternate was nearby with a precision approach. In all those cases I've always just elected to go to the alternate and get in easily. I've also diverted plenty of times to my alternate if I see the weather at my...

    Do run-ups work?

Yes they do, they just have other stuff to check rather than mags... Search for "Engine Run-Up" in this checklist for a meridian... http://www.wrightaviation.net/meridian_pa46_21_2621284209.pdf

How to plan transportation from a small airport

Yes! Man, have I learned that lesson  I always phone the FBO and ask for the local number of whichever agency I want to use that way you know for sure. Also if there are two airports near the small town with the car rental agency make sure you spell out exactly which airport. I've had a...

Single Six or Light Twin Advice

This was an excellent and honest assessment. For a lot of people, it will probably be difficult to justify holding yourself to an initial outlay of $100k then easily spending that again every 2 to 3 years following that. If you absolutely have to have that performance then you will have to make...

Learn how to make a really bad/scary face. It's easier if you're fairly ugly already but even if not you should be able to come up with something to scare the kid into not looking backwards anymore.
