    Why do pilots back taxi?

What plane was it and how wide is the taxiway? He could either be concerned that we wouldn't fit there or FOD.

    Flying/living in Puerto Rico

I think it is technically domestic, I just usually stick to the mainland.

    Flying/living in Puerto Rico

I'm looking for information regarding flying to and staying in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Has anyone been there? Should I have any safety concerns? My company asked me to deploy there for about a month. Normally I stay domestic and can I refuse this, but they are paying me a little more so I'm...

I know the answer but will ask anyway...

and not to mention Atlanta ATC is a thousand times nicer than NY.

Just pre-coordinate it, you'll get what you want.

I know the answer but will ask anyway...

Sure you can but it will require you to precoordinate it with tower (and probably NY depending on what you want to do). Contract the tower before hand, tell them what you want to do and see what they can accommodate. If they can't do it the same day, ask them for a time and date. Make...

King Air dual engine failure 27K

What I don't get is why his right engine isn't feathered and left is. In a duel engine failure I'd assume you feather both or none. In the NTSB report it says that the autofeather feather the right engine, he may or may not have feathered the left engine. According to the post crash picture, the...

How do we know that he was at 12K?

King Air dual engine failure 27K

That's for 24K. I'm not sure exactly what altitude this guy was at. If it was 12K, than that is rather low. Kinda a pointless altitude for that airplane. At 12K it would be around 350pph/side with a true of no more than 240kts.

King Air dual engine failure 27K

Expect about 250TAS and 285pph/side. I believe a C90 holds about 385gal. I fly an E90 with a different fuel system, so perhaps someone can confirm the fuel capacity on a C.

    Speed in pattern

I was actually a lot more surprised by 175kts. I flew a Caravan for a little while with a -135, but it had floats so it cruised only around 140kts. I expect your Caravan to be faster, just didn't realize that it could be THAT much faster.

If fuel exhaustion was the cause then we should see an NTSB report rather soon.

    Wow that's a big difference.

    Speed in pattern

It depends on what's flying behind you. In certain cases I'm sure a faster speed will be appreciate, then again at some point it becomes impractical for you. Perhaps you can fly a tighter pattern. Or offer to give way to faster traffic (if it's just one guy).

    Overhead Approaches

They are good when done correctly. Just don't ask for it at a bravo airport. :)

Finally made it into the flight levels

I've taken an DA42 and an Aztec up there. I think it's too high for a typical non-pressurized piston, but if the mission requires it, sure I'll do it.
