Most amazing flight OF YOUR LIFE ??

Very cool! I have been inspired to dig out my video etc. of Denali flying. It is not the best video but it is awesome. Felt like you could stick you arm out the side and smack the sides of some of the passes. I love DC-3's. Real workhorses in AK/CA. -Rob

Most amazing flight OF YOUR LIFE ??

Here's mine: Back in 2006 I had chartered a turbine otter along with 3 others to take us up and land on Denali (highest mountain range in North America). For 3 days we were on weather hold. Finally I get a call that if I can be there in 15 minutes I could go along with some people I never...

    Which Plane?

I agree. When I build some more time and can get the insurance down a little I'm leaning towards M20J. After flying my uncle's 231 needless to say "I saw the light". Enjoy your plane in good health!

    1960 C172A "ram horn" yoke

Hello All, My good friend has a great flying Cessna 172A (1960). He would like to switch to a "ram horn" yoke with a PTT switch integrated into it, as well as a thumb rest. So what does this entail? How to go about it, the options, costs etc (as well as any FAA mandates lol). Thanks...

Does having a stroke necessarily mean you lose your medical?

Unfortunately one of my flying friends recently had a stroke. We hope for a full recovery but it sounds like some "left side" body functions will not return 100% (or worse but we are optimistic and hopeful). Does that mean he will lose his medical? If he loses it due to stroke what would it...

    100LL... any news?

Re: ethanol problems I run a few companies in the marine (boats) industry. We are all too familiar with ethanol problems . . . and some of the worst ones I don't think have been mentioned so far (I didn't read page 1 thoroughly). Ethanol is a very powerful SOLVENT. This is a major problem...

    Old Aviation Photos

I have tried to do the same thing. My Grandpa's records (along with many others) were lost in the fire. I don't think there's any logbooks, but I will ask. Good luck with your search as well.

    Old Aviation Photos

I don't know the year(s). I will ask my Mom and my Uncle to see if they have any idea? They also moved around a lot, so if that training took place at particular bases they would know when they lived there. Thanks for the info! Added: My PawPaw was also a flight instructor for a looong time.

    Old Aviation Photos

Well I finally took the time to scan in my PawPaw's (my Grandpa) photos. He was active duty WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. His career as a pilot was mainly flying C130's. I have no information other than what you see in the pics as he passed away a few years ago. I hope you enjoy the pics (I have...

Skyhawk hold short for the 737

Last summer I was flying my C150 into JNU (Juneau, Alaska) and was cleared to land. An Alaska Airlines 737 had to hold short will I came in at a blistering 75 mph lol. I had identified myself as a student pilot. The pilot(s) in the 737 gave me a thumbs up as I touched down in front of them...
