Hot Start - 1977 Piper PA-28-181 Archer II

Never had trouble- but a little throttle manipulation always solved it not firing on the first attempt. She is a great plane.

Hot Start - 1977 Piper PA-28-181 Archer II

Adam- I quickly remember why I spent so little time on POA anymore. I doubt you'll see me post very often- if at all anymore. Enjoy 51H- she's a great bird.

Hot Start - 1977 Piper PA-28-181 Archer II

I think you're referring to the impulse coupling in the mags. OP - Give my method a go next time you go flying. Look at the club scheduling website and grab my cell phone number. If you have trouble again fell free to call me. I'm the VP. -Matt

Hot Start - 1977 Piper PA-28-181 Archer II

Having about 80 hours in 51H here is my recommendation. Throttle 1/4-1/2" open, fuel full rich, fuel pump on. Cold motor: Cold temp <40* 5-6 shots of primer and crank. Avg temp 45-75* 4-5 shots of primer and crank. Warm temp > 80* - 4 shots of primer and crank. Hot motor: Fuel pump on...

Why increase speed in a headwind?

Why try to make the runway when you can land "in place". No ground roll, small flare (travel backwards?!?) Don't need to pull the chute if you've got a cirrus.

    Philly PIREP request- skyline....

Thank you Adam- I'm thinking it was you at your place last year for the FlyBQ steak and cheese night that told me this, but I didn't recall the specifics. I hope you're doing well!

    Another successful solo flight...

Congrats Pilot! I remember a similar thought as I pulled out for that first solo takeoff... In my head "you don't have to do this... " Applies take off power- "you can stop, there's plenty of runway" rotating... "Way to go stupid, now you have to land this thing...." I've got video...

    Philly PIREP request- skyline....

Good evening everyone- I'm taking a friend up tomorrow morning for breakfast in the NW Philly suburbs (weather permitting) from KGAI. The question I'm posing - I've heard rumors that Philly Approach will give GA aircraft vectors through the bravo for a "Downtown Skyline Tour". I'm my...

A330 Engine Failure & Rejected Takeoff at Manchester

Just to get additional clarification (I have VERY little time in a A320 sim) - the auto brakes will automatically come on once the pilot(s) pull the throttles back to idle- not while in the TOGO position even after the single engine is lost? (This is a question- not a statement.) I.E. auto...

    PA-28 numbers - Archer / Warrior?

Spend the time improving on a deficiency that the extra 20HP brings out. Or just learn something new- I know I don't know it all, I can't speak for you. And I don't think I said checkride.... A check out isn't just about the plane.... B

    Flight simulator

My experience with ms FSX was that during my initial training- not really valid for most everything. That being said the two/three hours I spent flying "IFR" between two airports I planned on flying after I got my ticket (1500-10000 cloud cover) did wonders for two things- my "scan" hoodwork...

    PA-28 numbers - Archer / Warrior?

100 hours in a warrior. Take 1.5 - 2 hours with an instructor and the archer is pretty much the same. There are differences. I find the archer is easier to get the nose up on landing and climbs better (additional 20HP has obviously nothing to do with that). There isn't "much" difference...

Weight in rear of Piper Warrior.

My experience has this statement right on the money- I've flown a PA28-161 on all the corners of the normal envelope and the performance between light and heavy is very noticeable. The forward and aft CG differences on the other hand are noticeable, but docile. Guessing here- I'd say lack of...
