    STEC 60 Button Getting Finicky

Had the same problem with my S-Tec 60. I sent the control head to Autopilots Central in Tulsa. They told me there are small cushions behind the buttons that harden over time. They replaced the pads and it worked much better. AFAIK, the pads are not field serviceable.

    Asthma and class 3 medical

Yeah, but...it has a tracking number and can be tracked through delivery to OP's mailbox. As I said...fishy.

    BasicMed doctors in Sacramento area

Respectfully, you're over-thinking this. A Basic Med physical is just about the same as any other physical, including DOT, for example. Some docs won't do it out of fear of liability if you end up having a heart attack and crash. Other docs, including mine, have no problem going through the...

This sounds fishy. Doesn't the FAA send its letters certified?

Is there a fix for that?

    Fixed ADS-B In

In an earlier post, I described my set-up, which has a TrueBlue USB power supply powering a Stratus. OP nixed it (saying it wasn't "hard wired").

Can IA ground plane for airworthiness outside of annual inspection?

A picture of the stop-drilled crack would be helpful for this discussion.

    Fixed ADS-B In

It's all under the panel, including the USB port, which is necessary because the Stratus operates on 5 volts.

    Fixed ADS-B In

I have a Stratus 3 hardwired under my panel to the ship's power (with a single port True Blue USB power supply), and attached to an external antenna.

Can IA ground plane for airworthiness outside of annual inspection?

I think MEK and/or acetone will dissolve ABS so it can be used in repairs.

    At A Cross Roads

I put a deposit down on my XP470 with Ly-Con in March. They recently said it will be delivered in the next couple of weeks, which is only about 2-3 weeks longer than their original estimate.

The question is — For how long? That’s what caused me to look elsewhere.

    At A Cross Roads

I spoke with Tim before I decided on a shop for my engine. He told me that he might be retiring soon and wouldn’t be around to support the engine. Did he tell you the same?

    At A Cross Roads

FWIW, I'm about to take delivery of an overhauled engine from a long-time, well-respected engine shop. To me, the difference in price wasn't worth it, especially because at this stage of my flying career, it's very unlikely I will be flying long enough to take the engine to TBO.

Trutrak and IFR Checkride / IPC?

On my recent IFR check ride, I used my TruTrak (AeroCruze 100) for heading vectors and GPSS (with my Avidyne IFD 540). The DPE did not object.

    Bose A20 issues

I had exactly the same problem. I sent the headset back to Bose (I paid for the repair) and they fixed whatever was wrong. The headset came back looking and functioning like new! You can initiate the service request online. https://boseaviation.com/support/service/

Battery replacement in a GNS430W - Looking for shop to do it

Given two people in this thread have reported "smoking" their radios during battery changes, perhaps changing a radio battery is a "bit" more complex than a typical battery.

Battery replacement in a GNS430W - Looking for shop to do it

Robert, I had the battery in a 530 replaced at San Luis Avionics at KSBP. www.sanluisavionics.com. IIRC, the price was reasonable and the turn-around time decent. This was a few years ago, so YMMV. Good luck.
