NA why do people bag leaves and throw them away?

Not all leaves dissolve or degrade very well. For example, magnolia leaves can take a couple years to decompose. In that time, your grass is dead and now you're left with mud. Live oaks are another and don't decompose.

EAB - Variation in maintenance difficulty by manufacturer

Other than things like wheel pants vs. no wheel pants, most of what you're asking about is going to depend on the builder. Because I've spent a lot of time fixing and maintaining things, when I was building my Velocity, I was always thinking about "what happens when I need to work on this?"...

EAB - Variation in maintenance difficulty by manufacturer

I don't agree with that. A retractable-gear aircraft isn't necessarily harder to work on. It just has an additional mechanism that has to be maintained. That does not mean it's "harder" to work on. Just that there's "more" to work on.

    Transient tie down fees

I guess that I'm not understanding the question. Taxi up to the FBO, if there's nobody to direct you where to park, the spots are usually marked on the ground. Stop in one of the marked spots. If there aren't any marked spots or there are no empty ones, just stop near the FBO. Get out, go...

    New hydrogen engine

Did I miss the post where Salty said not to drill in Florida? Because I don't see that.

    Electronical help requested.

The connector will pop apart and you can then pull the cable off of the connector. Then you can attach the connector to your new cable. You'll probably need to use a vise to press the new cable and cap on to the connector. Or if there's enough slack in the cable, just cut it and move the...

    New hydrogen engine

If their previous track record is any indication, we'll see this in 2050. https://generalaviationnews.com/2023/11/25/deltahawk-launches-hydrogen-engine-development-program/

    Workshop insulation

More information would be helpful. Where is this garage located? Arizona? Montana? What is the construction? Typical residential construction? Steel frame with sheet metal siding? Is it finished on the inside? If so, with what? Drywall? Wood? Is it attached to a house? If so, how many...

Being based at an airport that doesn’t sell fuel?

My comments were NOT about the OP. Other than commenting that the OP was overthinking the situation, I was responding to comments others made.

    Oil Warmer Question

When I was building the Velocity, epoxy has to be kept warm. I bought a cheap cabinet from Home Depot, lined it with foil backed insulation and put a 100w light bulb in with a thermostat. Kept it set at 78F. Even in Chicago winters, the light came on for about 10 minutes per hour. I got no...

    Electronic Logbook?

I've always done both. Started with paper and an Excel spreadsheet. Then moved from Excel to Logbook Pro. I log everything in the electronic version then every now and then fill out the paper logbooks.

    PA28 down near Gainesville, FL

That's pretty much the same panel my 182RG had (although I did have a 400B A/P). I flew IMC, approaches, and a number of LIFR approaches with no problems. I don't know if I would want to do long trips in IMC without an A/P though. That would get old pretty fast.

Being based at an airport that doesn’t sell fuel?

Actually, you said You didn't say that it's "not a safety issue". You said fueling the plane yourself at your home field is safer than stopping and getting fuel when you're "tired". Saying one thing is "safer" means the other is less safe. But sure, you didn't say "dangerous". But I would...

Being based at an airport that doesn’t sell fuel?

Never said it was. I don't see how fueling at an airport away from home is more dangerous than fueling from five gallon cans.

Being based at an airport that doesn’t sell fuel?

If your airplane can only carry two hours of fuel and nearest airport is two hours away, then you will obviously need to bring in fuel. And that's the definition of getthereits. When convenience becomes more important than safety, there's a problem. Weather is closing in? Land. You're tired...

I told the state to shove and didn't bother with the lawyer. They never did squat.

If anyone needs to renew their IL aircraft registration...

I'm pretty sure airman certification is the sole purview of the federal government.

Being based at an airport that doesn’t sell fuel?

:yeahthat: The person who gets "stuck" at their home field without enough fuel is the same type of person who runs out of fuel before getting to their destination.
