    Hey! How ya been, Kristin?

    Aircraft Leaseback

Welcome. This will be interesting. Most of the threads here on leasebacks have been about pilots who own a single airplane which they fly and use the leaseback as a cost-reduction tool rather than a money-making business strategy. I knew one guy years ago. I think he had 3 or 4 airplanes...

Challenge to the use of Administrative Law Judges is at the Supreme Court

West Virginia is the most recent of a line of cases limiting the breadth of Chevron. The limitations have mostly been about the type of questions requiring deference and the analysis into the reasonableness of the interpretation. Thats was a gross simplification.

Garmin GPS 175 didn't give me a procedure turn when it should have. Help.

I think it's a bit less of an issue with a touch system than a a button system, but many of us (me included) have a bad habit of touching things without really looking at them.

How to set up to land with a dead engine.

Considering that I had a loss of power* event over the Rockies in the clouds 20+ nm from the nearest airport, I'd have to agree :D. (*partial loss of power, but 11" MP is not keeping you in the air)

Garmin GPS 175 didn't give me a procedure turn when it should have. Help.

Thread creep... So is any T IAF you loaded I would expect that behavior. When you hit VTF you are basically telling the navigator, "I don't need all that other stuff." I don't have an inside line, but I think the retention of the waypoints along the extended final approach course in this...

How to set up to land with a dead engine.

We agree on 95%. My only hesitation is the idea of trying to be too specific about that initial 800 to 1000. When we practice simulated engine outs in the pattern, we arrived downwind normally, not during the stress of an emergency and we still have idle thrust.

    Transient tie down fees

Absolutely. If there are tiedown fees, you might even discover that paying the monthly ramp rent is the least expensive option. It may even result in discounted fuel as a “based” airplane.

How to set up to land with a dead engine.

I have no problem with spiraling down, but not over the approach end. Most pilots I’ve flown with have trouble with visualizing a straight in approach. Too much room for both an undershoot and overshoot error. OTOH, I have not yet come across a pilot who could not visualize the path to the...

Garmin GPS 175 didn't give me a procedure turn when it should have. Help.

Nope. Coming from that direction, it wont ask. It will load the hold automatically. @bcg-63M20C, like @TCABM, I ran it in the trainer. Created the HYI-ERV flight plan and loaded the RNAV 12 via OBUCO. Unless something is wrong with the unit, it will always load the hold coming from that...

    Transient tie down fees

It's not really a scam - they are upfront about it. OTOH, there's a reason they were not permitted to acquire the TAC Air locations where it would reduce existing competition. I just did a quick comparison. Two airports I'm familiar with. I mention the fuel price just for fuller information...

    Transient tie down fees

All the time. Not for a day trip or a $100 hamburger. But a muti-day trip where I also want a car? It's usually less expensive and more convenient. And if I didn't care about convenience, I'd take an airline or drive.

    Ifr written holding procedure ??’s

The test isn't about preference. It's about recognizing the AIM-standard entries; nothing more. And the FAA will use a 1° difference to differentiate. I'm surprised someone hasn't brought this one up with the FAA testing people. If the question gave a wind, I can see a difference, albeit still...

    SeriusXM Question

Here's SiriusXM in a nutshell. This was the radio product. I had a weather subscription for my GPSMap 376 (Marine) but stopped that almost 13 years ago. Once upon a time, there was this little renewal dance... 1. You subscribe at a reduced rate. 2. Renewals are automatic at full price. 3. They...

Online Group Airplane Scheduling with IOS & Android access

I guess it's about how big a group. Yeah a small co-owner group of 3 or 4 with one airplane, Google calendar is more than enough. Make it a flying club with a bunch of members and multiple airplanes you might need more. This is kind of like questions about what airplane to buy - the question is...

    Transient tie down fees

I have a funny attitude about email. It's normal communication. If there's a choice of FBOs (or close by airports) I might email both. Whoever gets back to me in writing will usually get my business. No real choice; no reason to ask.

    Ifr written holding procedure ??’s

I would be asking the test prep organization why they think there's a difference. I doubt the FAA thinks there is.

    Transient tie down fees

Second best. Best is emailing the FBO where you are going or looking at the FBO website.
