I am ferrying a SNJ from Chino to the Chicago area next week. Does anyone have any suggestions as far as routing is concerned? My plan is to basically follow roads on the way for better ground clearance and to be near to population in case of an emergency. I would like to be able to maybe see the grand canyon along the way though. Thanks for the help.

I-15 to I-40 until east of the Continental Divide, then open plains to CHI.
Grand Canyon is not too far north of I-40 and easily viewed. Just pay attention to the approved fly ways and no fly areas for engine sound.

Talk to Daniel Wotring over at FUL. He just flew an SNJ from MA to FUL and he is often out at CNO. He should have some good advice. His website is currently down, but if you would like to reach him, PM me for his contact info.
