I have not logged on in almost two years, but I have not forgot all of you! I have a room for three nights in Reno Nevada and I need a female roomate. Do any of you women want to join me? Please let me know.

Sorry I don't qualify either be being free or having the appropriate plumbing... I hope you have a great time though.
 
Ooo so tempting but I don't think I have the vacation to swing it.
 
Might I ask where you are staying? A friend and I really want to go out there, but aren't interested in paying even $100/night. We figured there might be some cheap camping/cabins (simple, no bathroom, electricity optional, etc.) nearby, but could only find RV parks.

You might get a deal at one of the Casinos. There are some real flea bags in Reno, though, so be careful (think run down and dirty, not rustic with no electricity). I stayed in one once that was right on the train tracks and you could hear it all night. Silver Legacy, El Dorado and The Grand Sierra Resort are all good. There is also John Ascuaga's Nugget, Peppermill and Atlantis. The Casinos can be pretty inexpensive, especially during midweek.
 
You can swing it! It would be great. I have waited sooo long. It will be my first Reno. I have some friends going but they are all guys. Please let me know. There are still some good airfares to Sacramento, then I am driving to Reno.

If you are still looking for a roommate, give me a call - I'd like to book my hotel today or tomorrow since prices keep going up (I'm there for a whole week). However, I would like to find out what you would charge.

I will be "working" (as a volunteer) in / near (not sure) the control tower at the races each morning, Tues - Sun.

Well, I doubt she would want to hear my alarm at 4 or 5 in the morning - so she is welcome to "decline" my offer. If I don't hear from her I'm going to try to book a hotel that doesn't charge me until I check in / free cancellations / changes. Then when we do connect I can modify my reservation.

I am not a "morning person" but the Reno Air Races shift starts at 6am and once I complete 5 or so hours of work, I'm free the rest of the day to wander around which sounded a lot better than working the afternoon shift and missing the action. I still know nothing about the races or why they are so cool, but that's OK - I get to find out in person!

The noise, there's nothing else quite like it. It's not quite nitro methane noise, but it's the best gasoline powered noise there is. YoU don't need to see the races to enjoy them, in fact I prefer to close my eyes and just feel the noise.

Sounds like Sunday. We pulled over to the side of the road to catch the tail end of the airshow (and the only plane my BF wanted to see): the F18 demo. I could "feel" the noise in my chest when it flew by. Awesome.
 
If you ladies need a room to crash in for a night or two let me know.

You will need to get approval from the "Dreamkiller". I have plenty of room in my suite and there is even a 10 person dinning room table.

Don't give away the table, I may make it yet. I believe I'm already Dreamkiller Pre approved...;)
 
Sorry but I am pretty sure my boyfriend would like me to stay in my own room (or Vikki's).
 
The master is available for smoothness lessons.

Still trying to reach Vikki to see what she is offering, perhaps I can modify my reservation.

My room came with 2 free dinners every night except for 3 nights (for the buffett) so that is promising.

Keep trying? I don't have her phone number or email address. The only thing I tried was to post here and then to send her a PM. I am still interested but the hotels are selling out so I had to take care of my 7-night stay first (she is only staying 3 nights).

Jet noise is just a hideous shriek, you need pistons to make the music.

This will be awesome, I'm so glad I decided to do this volunteer job. How fun. Only 20 or so days until I leave for this vacation, I don't think I've ever stayed in a hotel 7 nights before. The last time I was gone for a week was in 2005 on a cruise which might have been 7 nights but I don't remember.

Tim,

It is because you vouched for Vikki that I am staying with her. Not sure if you've met Vikki in person but I lucked out. This will be fun, thank you Tim. Now if I could just get you to vouch for my upcoming CFI(s), employers, and landlords.
