Over the ground speed records of GA aircraft

According to the 530 in the 310, the highest GS it's ever achieved was 293 KTS. The most I've ever seen is 240, and the highest I've ever seen in the Aztec was about 225.

Can you imagine a Sundowner going 186 or 189 kts over the ground.

Sure can. In a 90 degree dive, on fire, with a Colorado tailwind and Gary up on the glareshield going Yee Haw!!!!

:D

GS would be zero in a 90 deg dive regardless of who's in the glareshield, but I'm sure you knew that.

Yeah, I know. Poetic license and all that. Didja see the :D?

Well, I'm off to do some T&G's in the ME-109.
