I have a friend with a Cherokee looking for recommendations for a good paint shop. Preferably within a 150 miles or so of Kansas City.

Can anybody suggest where to go and also who to stay away from? Like everyone, he wants good quality at a reasonable and fair price. Thanks in advance.

There use to be a pretty good paint shop at Bolivar,(M17) but I am not sure if they are still there. The only other ones I know of in this part of the country are in Mena, AR.

I'll check on Bolivar. I know there are a couple of shops in Mena. As I recall, one is supposed to be good and the other not so good. Any and all information is appreciated.

Reasonable prices, great quality. They are painting my RV-12. I can arrange for you to inspect an RV-10 they painted if you would like to see an example of their work up close. A buddy of mine owns the RV-10 in the photo gallery.

Mine is in the shop getting repainted right now by R&B Aircraft. They are located at Topeka Billard Airport. Much easier to visit and Greg has been doing this a loooooong time. His shop even did Mr. McClellan's (Flying Mag editor) Baron back in 1995ish and had a nice article written about the experience. Aviation Consumer has also listed them among their recommended paint shops a few times as well over the last couple of years.

Once it comes out, he's free to take a look at it. I'm based at KFLV (Sherman Army Airfield).
