Greetings,

My Husabnd has what I believe to be costochondritis. He's had it since October. NASID's and rest are not helping. He's going to see my Primary Care Physician, a DO. His Doc did a X-ray which came back normal. He needs a CT or MRI. I am guessing he will need corticosteroidal injections to help his healing. He is an Airline Captain holding a class 1 medical. Can he fly on these injections, or is he grounded for a while? Thank you in advance for your answers.

There is a “steroid equivalency” calculation….for whatever steroid the ortho uses. You can’t fly on any day in each more than 20 mg (equivalent, in Prednisone) is given……

When I had a steroid injection, the underlying issue (shoulder) was the longer concern. Well unless flying one-armed is feasible. lol.
I was quite happy the steroid did its magic and fixed the shoulder.
