the "not worthy of it's own thread" thread

Oomph..
LLWS + RJs with severe turbulence just over the lake.
Good luck and god speed!

Don't be late...
Even if I'm on time, do I want my plane sitting on Atlantic's ramp getting hailed on?

They didn't take it out of the evening update:

Ask Atlantic to stick it in the hangar? Us small piston fleet usually get in because we fit nice and snug between GLEX’s and Gulfstreams ;)

They moved the graupel up an hour and added lightning in the forecast discussion. The winds exceed my personal maximums. I guess I'm driving to the Bears game like a peasant.

I think we should have a "not worthy of being a thread" thread, and people can post thread titles in it that are about such silly stuff that they could've just been a post or something. :D

You're doing it wrong. They're supposed to be personal minimums! Those winds are above your minimums, so go kick the tires and light the fires.

Flew KHUA to KDKX to see this game! War Eagle!!!

Lots of traffic for game day but amazing to be in the stadium for every play!

I’m headed to Nashville this Thursday. Flying commercial since my plane is still down. (6 months and counting). My daughter Lauren is getting married on Sunday and they want me there for some reason. I guess I’m getting a son in law for my birthday the next day. Weddings are a LOT more expensive these days. I’m expected to smile. Wish me luck.

So my multi school uses King for its ground component. I’m going through the videos now. So unless King also does Flight Instructor or ATP ground, this might be the last time I see them!

What time? I’ll bring a nice gift. :)

Final day of work before leaving to Nashville. I had chili with beans for breakfast.

They're gonna LOVE me this evening. ;)

Definition of controlled airspace: How much flatus the pilot can pass without rendering passengers unconscious...

I am guessing that it could also be read how much flatus can the passengers pass without rendering the flight crew unconscious....

At a recent airshow, chatted with the people giving B25 rides. They also have a flight school. IF you have your multi, you can - for only $6000 and a long weekend - get a SIC endorsement. Expensive enough that "never going to happen", but just close enough to wonder how cool it would be to have. (No, I doubt if I'd ever be called up to defend our great country as a SIC for a B 25. Or have a B 25 available for rental).

Too much money and don't 'know what to do with it all? For $16,000 and several weeks, you can get the PIC endorsement.

Had my first real go-around necessity landing in Roswell NM this afternoon. Thought I'd beat the nasty wind shift predicted by the TAF, but due to a late start and slower than planned flight from NM turbulence.. not so much. On short final in the arrow I got a wind check of 280 at 25G29... While landing RWY 21. Following the wind check I instinctively blurted out (hot mic) "well, this should be real fun". Without skipping a beat the controller fired back "that's why you've got a rudder"

Even their 13000 foot runway couldn't salvage that attempt. I got close but no cigar. Throttle in, climb, go around time.

Second attempt I was in the zone, with the controllers giving me wind updates and letting me know i could fly the pattern as needed. The boom, got it! It helped that the wind had shifted to 250 at 20G30, giving me more to work with.

Cheers to the controllers at KROW. Very nice and extra patient in air and on the ground

Lastly, how was I under the delusion that KAMA and KROW would usually be calm wind? I always pictured a serene, still southwest. The wind stats they gave me y'day for how hard the wind blows at Amarillo makes even my most intense wind flying look like amateur hour

Nice! I’ve flown an Arrow 2 in those kinds of conditions - definitely A game territory. I’ve also hot mic’d to a tower before, on my commercial long XC. Tower never responded and I have never admitted until now just in case you PoAers try to get a copy of the recording.

Speaking of…

Yep, I'm sure my transcripts can be dug out of the archives! Complete with my "standby" instruction after landing when they gave me my taxi instructions, as I was still waiting for the (fun) adrenaline to wear off!

I've flown in those winds before, but never attempted those crosswinds. During planning I was expecting wind from 230 not 280! Though once I got closer and realized winds would suck -- I continued fully prepared to go around as many times as needed (and) seek an alternate airport if req'd.

I didn't wish to be the second questionable aircraft that slams down into Roswell ;)

at least it wasn’t deep dish

That is........ just sad.

It truly is. They seem to serve some strange and gross food at the fair and a lot of folks will try it, I guess it's about just being different. I don't wanna be that different.
