When I set out to find a new plane, I had in mind something that would make a good photo plane as well as something fairly quick and fairly easy to fly. I really wanted a 180 or 185, but the budget said I should get a 182! Even that was a stretch. I think I bought the most expensive straight-tail 182 on the market. Since then, I've been offered a lot more than I paid though, so I don't feel too bad about it!

My friend @Travis L flew the plane for me so I could get photos. He has a 1958 182A that he bought from @timwinters, so he was right at home.

Thank you! I fell in love at first sight!

I really want to upgrade the panel in mine, but I hate to pay for the upgrades and hate to lose the plane for the time it would take!

I have a Garmin 430, so I'll probably just go with the Avidyne IFD 440 since it's a slide-in replacement. My autopilot is in the shop, can't wait to get it back and try it out.

?? 182D was the 1961 model, 182E (first with the rear window) was the 1962 model, and the 182F was the 1963 model. As with cars, the model year changeover was in the fall every year, so some 182Es were built in late 1961, some 182Fs in late '62, and some 182Gs were built in late '63. What's your serial number?

Thanks. Not the paint job I would have chosen. I would have gone with a traditional scheme, but I do like it.

The new 182 looks more retro than my 1959!

I was told it was a D. I was copying the logs yesterday and half of the logbook entries refer to it as an E.

It has a swept tail and the split rear window. I should have said 1962.

182E production was 18253599 - 18254423. You have the 76th 182E of the 825 that were built.

182D had swept tail and the narrower C-180 fuselage with no rear window. 182D also had the 180-style adjustable stabilizer with no elevator trim tab.
 
I have made fun of the red piper interior... Not here. I love it! Very sharp! Been thinking of dying the interior on mine. Interior is in good shape, but the hurricane blue and canvas interior on a red, white, and gold plane is an odd look. First world problems.

Trust someone else to fly your plane...but not with your camera. Got it. Granted the quality would suffer. Great shots as always.
 
So jealous. I want a 182D or C in the worst way. I had to get a 205 for the extra seats and useful load. Hoping one day to be a fastback owner. You have better paint job than mine and better avionics than I got in my bird. Nicely done.

I love my 182. I've got the fastest 182 in our group, probably due to the new engine and prop, and the prettiest! I'm ready to head to Oshkosh.

LOL, you wouldn't believe the number of people who offered to take the photos with me flying! I guess I make taking the photos look too easy!
