I was pricing some avionics upgrades and the one shop stated that a G3X cannot drive a KAP-150 autopilot. But the Garmin page says it can, but G3X Touch will not support display of flight director (FD), autopilot modes or annunciations for non-Garmin autopilots. Consult your Authorized Garmin Dealer for more details.without

Anyone actually running a KAP-150 interfaced to a G3X Touch?

I would rather not have to replace the autopilot right now also.

Thanks.

Depends on what you mean by “drive” the autopilot. G3X/G5’s can provide heading and course error signals to the autopilot, which will provide heading, GPSS and nav tracking. They cannot provide the attitude (pitch and roll) signals that the autopilot needs, nor can they display the flight director. You would either have to retain the KI256 attitude indicator and vacuum system for that, or you could install a GI-275 or G500 TXi+GAD43 which can provide those attitude signals (as well as receive flight director signals for display)

Hmm, toss between going G500TXi or just going to the GFC-500.
